The thunder rolls....

and the lightenin' strikes, another love grows cold on a sleepless night....ok, I will stop singing Garth Brook's "The thunder rolls" and talk about a different kind of thunder. Storm thunder? Well, yes we get that too...a lot actually here in Oklahoma...but something else. Something that has taken over every single Oklahoman including this blonde okie.

I am talking about our NBA basketball team, the OKC Thunder. I will admit, I am not one to usually write about sports, I don't really know that much about the stuff. I did however win the NCAA bracket that I was in...so I may know something. The only sports I really care about are OSU football and I like to watch baseball games. That is my extent of sports.

Now, I am not going to get into statistics and how many games we need to play to win the whole thing, because I just don't know. I do know this. I am proud of the recognition they are getting and how they are representing Oklahoma. I'd say they are doing a pretty good job.

OKC Thunder is a very young team, in fact the second youngest team in the league. The two star players, Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook are only 22 years old. In any interviews I have seen with Durant, he is so humble and so genuine and appreciative of all the opportunities he has been given. To me, that outweighs how many jump shots or three pointers or whatever it is that basketball players do.

I recently saw something posted on face book and I had to share it with y'all. As you know, we experienced a horrific terrorist attack in our state. The 1995 bombing of the Murrah Federal building. I will never forget that day, or the images that were on the TV for months. Our state came together in a way I had never seen before or known a state could do. This video is a great story of how the Thunder has taken something so tragic and brought life back to the city and the state. It is because of this video, these players, the people of Oklahoma...that I am proud to be from this state.

So, Thunder Up boys...lets kick ass in another Red River Rivalry.

Oh and P.S. Watch the Ellen Show today, because I heard that she is going to mention the OKC Thunder.
