A full circle moment

"No matter the deviation, all things come full circle. You begin and end your journey in the same place, but with a different set of eyes. "~Jennifer DeLucy

Do y'all follow The Single Woman?

I've talked about her before...if you still do not follow her...you definitely should. She is also on twitter.

Which reminds me I really need to step up my game with this twitter thing.

I'm telling you almost everything she writes is genius. Girl is a genius. Miss Football also followers her, and there are some days were we'll go into full on discussion and analyze our love lives or lack there of from something The Single woman wrote that day.
It's not all love and games with that lady, she is pretty genius about life too.

I mean life and love do go hand in hand.

She wrote about having those "Full circle" moments. Those moments where there comes a time or a situation that reminds you about a time in the past where you chose or did something differently.

I had one of those moments the other day at Wal-Mart of all places. I was in the produce section, picking out some strawberries, picking up the package, turning it around checking for damaged strawberries...because at 1.98 I am not paying for crap strawberries. While doing this, I heard a man's voice asking me, how can I tell which strawberry is right.?
I looked up only to recognize that super cute face and muscular arms of a guy I used to date. It's weird I didn't even recognize his voice. I haven't seen him in probably a couple of years. He looked exactly the same, cute dimples, piercing blue eyes..nice muscular arms...except something was different...the something that was different was the little 2 month old baby girl in the car seat and a wedding ring on his finger.

Darn the luck.

He was just as nice then as he was a couple of years ago. We had a nice conversation, you know the usual when you run into someone you used to date. The "How are you's", "What have you been up too"...oh, no I'm not married...still single...clearly I have no baby in the cart.
You know, that kind of talk.

We said our goodbyes, I told him congrats on both the marriage and his baby and wished him the best of luck and I moved on to check out the asparagus.

My full circle moment was this.
Why did it not work out for us? Why was I so stupid? Why couldn't my 27 year old self have met him now, instead of my 24 year old self?

When were dating, I was also semi-dating this other guy. This semi guy was your typical player, only I was to blinded by his ability to get every girl to turn their head when he walked in, by the fact he had a great job as a professional in the PBR(not a bullrider), I was too involved in the pomp and circumstance and the flash that came from being associated with this dude....all of that pomp and circumstance seemed to have blocked his true assholeness.

My "strawberry isle" guy is your typical good ol' boy. Super sweet, a lot of fun, great dancer, would do anything for me, still probably would if I needed him to, but he was in between jobs and didn't have that fancy truck or whatever excuse it was that I wanted to use. I was so caught up in wanting to be seen or whatever with this other dude...that I overlooked this great guy in front of me.

Real, real smart Lyndse.

I now know that at 24 I wasn't ready for a great guy like that...for some reason, I needed to get my heart broke from a player like the cowboy...because here, in this full circle moment...I know what it truly is that I want.

My 27 year old self wants the good ol' boy...who is perfectly ok holding a crying baby in his arms while pushing the cart in the produce section.

Being Single

“I must learn to love the fool in me the one who feels too much, talks too much, takes too many chances, wins sometimes and loses often, lacks self-control, loves and hates, hurts and gets hurt, promises and breaks promises, laughs and cries.” ~Theodore Isaac Rubin

Do you guys follow The Single Woman? If not, you should because she is amazing. Think Carrie Bradshaw amazing. She has great advice for us single gals...actually she just has great advice in general. Whether you are single or not.

I saw this quote yesterday in her post, I just love it! Absolutely love it. I know I judge myself to harshly sometimes. I know I talk waytomuch or say things that don't make any sense...I cry at those dang Sara Mclaughlin commercials and that self-control thing...let's just say that Rocky Road ice cream didn't eat itself, okay!

All those things though...they make ME who I am.

And that's just that.

I don't know if it's because I live in the South, or because I ain't gettin' any younger or because everyone around me is either getting married or having babies...pretty sure it's all of the above, but I get asked DAILY and I mean DAILY, are you dating someone? Why aren't you dating someone?

I have blogged about it before. It's frustrating getting asked those questions. Trust me if I knew the answer, don't you think I would be dating someone and/or married.

Geez Louis.

Yesterday, a lady told me(and it's not just her, here lately I've been told this several times) dating at your age, it isn't easy.

YOUR AGE?

When did I become the age where YOUR AGE was a factor.
WTF?

I am 27. Is that really an age, where dating isn't easy??

It's not that I don't get asked out on dates, I mean...that eighty year old man who gave me the Worther's Original candy asked me on a date. See...I get asked. Might not be in my particular age range of dating, but still.

I was asked.

I will admit, her telling me that kinda of made me sad and discouraged me a little and made me wonder, maybe I am being too picky.

Then I saw this...and all hope was restored.

Amen. Give it all to God

God knows what he's doing. So, all the times that I questioned maybe if I did this differently or said this or actually went on a second date with that guy...it would have worked out and I wouldn't still be single....GOD knows, and he has the perfect man for me to marry.

He won't be perfect, I'm not perfect...but he'll be perfect for me.

Gentlemen behavior

A week or so ago when Miss Football was in Oklahoma, the one thing she insisted on doing was going dancing. Us girls like to two-step. Blame it on our fathers who taught us how to two-step when we were younger and all those good lookin' cowboys in college.

Either way, we like a country bar with some good music and cute cowboys.

We brought along with us Miss Football's best friend's little brother...who just so happens to be quite the two-stepper.

He's quite the gentlemen ladies. He opened doors for us, sometimes he would say yes ma'am...which is very polite don't get me wrong, but come on we are only 27 and 28..."ma'am" isn't really necessary. Through out the night we took it upon ourselves to teach this young man of 20, what girls look for in a guy. We want to make sure that when he dates someone that the girl treats him right and he treats her right as well.

With this we go on to tell him things of what we look for in a guy, not superficial things like tall, dark and handsome...but the little gestures that seem to be lost on so many guys these days. Gentlemanly things.

As we are talking, a 80 year old man approaches me and asks me to dance. How could I say no to this cute little old grandpa who was wearing his "best night on the town" outfit, complete with a cowboy hat. So, I go and dance with him. He's super sweet, and when the dance was over he walked me all the way back to my chair...pulled my chair out for me and kissed my hand...then he gave me a Worther's Original hard candy.

That ladies...is a gentlemen.

Why can't a 27 year old guy act that way and walk me back to my chair?

What happen to the old fashion gentlemen? You know that one that is polite and opens doors for a lady...any lady, the ones that say yes ma'am and no sir. Take their hats off at the table. Respect their mom and in turn respect you. I just feel that maybe the act of being a gentlemen might have skipped a generation or something.

Yes, I do know that those gentlemen are out there but I think they are coming few and far between.

Tell, the sweet boy who came with us to dance, is just as gentlemanly. He brought up an interesting point, that I guess as a girl I don't see...maybe because once or twice in my life I may have acted like this, but he said..."Why act like a gentlemen when girls my age...all they want is that "bad" guy...the one that treats them like crap." He also pointed out that girls his age don't often act like a lady or act like that want to be treated well by a man at all.
Well...I don't just think it's the young girls that do this...I see it all the time, with all ages of girls. The girls that just seem to give themselves to anyone, anytime. Girls that don't act like they have much respect for themselves...so why expect a guy to respect you when you aren't even doing the same for yourself?

The other day I saw this on pinterest....

need more gentlemen.

I never thought of it that way. But it's true.

I think the younger girls of our generation are getting bad examples thrown at them at how to act. When you have the snookie's and people called  the Situation out there as examples...how else do you think they will act?

We need more Audrey Hephrun's and Grace Kelly's and less Paris Hiltons and Snookie's...and in return maybe we will get more guys like Humphrey Bogart and George Clooney instead of people who deem themselves as a situation.

RG

And that's the end of my soapbox.

Happy Thursday!

As my girl Beyonce says

All the single ladies, all the single ladies...oh, oh, oh, oh.

Ok, so I am not going to sing to you like Beyonce...but now that the song is officially stuck in your head...you are welcome...I would like to share with you an article a friend of mine posted on facebook yesterday. It's an article that was posted online via the Huffington Post, the Author is Tracy McMillan.

It's titled "Why your not married" clearly I was intrigued by this because as a single lady..oh oh oh oh oh, anyway, I get asked ALL.THE.FREAKIN.TIME...why I am not married, it's getting old people and yes, I know I am old and my eggs are trying up and some non-sense like that, but please stop asking me that question, because if I knew the answer I would, guess what...BE MARRIED!

Moving on

I read that article and I do agree with some points, but I am curious as to what all my single ladies opinion of the article is...do you agree with it? What are your thoughts? It's a fairly long article, I apologize for that...my comments about what I think are in pink.

Here goes it....

"Why your not married" by Tracy McMillan

You want to get married. It's taken a while to admit it. Saying it out loud -- even in your mind -- feels kind of desperate, kind of unfeminist, kind of definitely not you, or at least not any you that you recognize. Because you're hardly like those girls on TLC saying yes to the dress and you would never compete for a man like those poor actress-wannabes on The Bachelor. I love Say yes to the dress and I may or may not have wanted to be a girl that gets the final rose...what's wrong with that?
You've never dreamt of an aqua-blue ring box. Haha...if only I hadn't dreamt of a blue ring box. Breakfast at Tiffany's is one of my favorite movies.
Then, something happened. Another birthday, maybe. A breakup. Your brother's wedding. His wife-elect asked you to be a bridesmaid, and suddenly there you were, wondering how in hell you came to be 36-years-old, walking down the aisle wearing something halfway decent from J. Crew that you could totally re purpose with a cute pair of boots and a jean jacket. You started to hate the bride -- she was so effing happy -- and for the first time ever you began to have feelings about the fact that you're not married. You never really cared that much before. But suddenly (it was so sudden) you found yourself wondering... Deep, deep breath... Why you're not married.
Well, I know why.
How? It basically comes down to this: I've been married three times. Yes, three. To a very nice MBA at 19; a very nice minister's son at 32 (and pregnant); and at 40, to a very nice liar and cheater who was just like my dad, if my dad had gone to Harvard instead of doing multiple stints in federal prison.
I was, for some reason, born knowing how to get married. Growing up in foster care is a big part of it. The need for security made me look for very specific traits in the men I dated -- traits it turns out lead to marriage a surprisingly high percentage of the time. Without really trying to, I've become a sort of jailhouse lawyer of relationships -- someone who's had to do so much work on her own case that I can now help you with yours.
But I won't lie. The problem is not men, it's you. Sure, there are lame men out there, but they're not really standing in your way. Because the fact is -- if whatever you're doing right now was going to get you married, you'd already have a ring on it. So without further ado, let's look at the top six reasons why you're not married.

1. You're a Bitch.
Here's what I mean by bitch. I mean you're angry. You probably don't think you're angry. You think you're super smart, or if you've been to a lot of therapy, that you're setting boundaries. But the truth is you're pissed. At your mom. At the military-industrial complex. At Sarah Palin. And it's scaring men off.
The deal is: most men just want to marry someone who is nice to them. I am the mother of a 13-year-old boy, which is like living with the single-cell protozoa version of a husband. Here's what my son wants out of life: macaroni and cheese, a video game, and Kim Kardashian. Have you ever seen Kim Kardashian angry? I didn't think so. You've seen Kim Kardashian smile, wiggle, and make a sex tape. Female anger terrifies men. I know it seems unfair that you have to work around a man's fear and insecurity in order to get married -- but actually, it's perfect, since working around a man's fear and insecurity is big part of what you'll be doing as a wife.  I don't necessarily agree to this, at least for me...I am a nice person, sometimes to nice, like so nice to the weird guy at the bar that he thinks I am flirting with him. Ok, maybe that comment wasn't so nice. But you get what I mean.

2. You're Shallow.

When it comes to choosing a husband, only one thing really, truly matters: character. So it stands to reason that a man's character should be at the top of the list of things you are looking for, right? But if you're not married, I already know it isn't. Because if you were looking for a man of character, you would have found one by now. Men of character are, by definition, willing to commit.
Instead, you are looking for someone tall. Or rich. Or someone who knows what an Eames chair is. Unfortunately, this is not the thinking of a wife. This is the thinking of a teenaged girl. And men of character do not want to marry teenaged girls. Because teenage girls are never happy. And they never feel like cooking, either. I may or may not be guilty about this...Hello wanting a tall, OSU loving man or Matthew McConaughey...which ever comes first.  I will say this, as I get older my "list" of what I look for in a husband has changed a lot. Character, personality, loyalty, trust worthy, chivalry...it's all at the top...if he happens to be tall, handsome and loves OSU...then so be it.

3. You're a Slut.

Hooking up with some guy in a hot tub on a rooftop is fine for the ladies of Jersey Shore -- but they're not trying to get married. You are. Which means, unfortunately, that if you're having sex outside committed relationships, you will have to stop. Why? Because past a certain age, casual sex is like recreational heroin -- it doesn't stay recreational for long.
That's due in part to this thing called oxytocin -- a bonding hormone that is released when a woman a) nurses her baby and b) has an orgasm -- that will totally mess up your casual-sex game. It's why you can be f**k-buddying with some dude who isn't even all that great and the next thing you know, you're totally strung out on him. And you have no idea how it happened. Oxytocin, that's how it happened. And since nature can't discriminate between marriage material and Charlie Sheen, you're going to have to start being way more selective than you are right now. I'm certainly no Snookie...I poof my hair way better!

4. You're a Liar.
It usually goes something like this: you meet a guy who is cute and likes you, but he's not really available for a relationship. He has some condition that absolutely precludes his availability, like he's married, or he gets around town on a skateboard. Or maybe he just comes right out and says something cryptic and open to interpretation like, "I'm not really available for a relationship right now."
You know if you tell him the truth -- that you're ready for marriage -- he will stop calling. Usually that day. And you don't want that. So you just tell him how perfect this is because you only want to have sex for fun! You love having fun sex! And you don't want to get in a relationship at all! You swear!
About ten minutes later, the oxytocin kicks in. You start wanting more. But you don't tell him that. That's your secret -- just between you and 22,000 of your closest girlfriends. Instead, you hang around, having sex with him, waiting for him to figure out that he can't live without you. I have news: he will never "figure" this out. He already knows he can live without you just fine. And so do you. Or you wouldn't be lying to him in the first place. I used to be this girl, saying I didn't want a relationship even when I truly did...I just thought it was better if I said I didn't. I know...dumb. I am older now, wiser and I am going to be honest and up front with the fact I want a relationship.

5. You're Selfish.
If you're not married, chances are you think a lot about you. You think about your thighs, your outfits, your naso-labial folds. You think about your career, or if you don't have one, you think about doing yoga teacher training. Sometimes you think about how marrying a wealthy guy -- or at least a guy with a really, really good job -- would solve all your problems.

Howevs, a good wife, even a halfway decent one, does not spend most of her day thinking about herself. She has too much s**t to do, especially after having kids. This is why you see a lot of celebrity women getting husbands after they adopt. The kids put the woman on notice: Bitch, hello! It's not all about you anymore! After a year or two of thinking about someone other than herself, suddenly, Brad Pitt or Harrison Ford comes along and decides to significantly other her. Which is also to say -- if what you really want is a baby, go get you one. Your husband will be along shortly. Motherhood has a way of weeding out the lotharios. I am a single gal who makes my own money, has a house, car, I pay my bills, I feed and take care of my only dependents which happen to be dogs...I think it's ok to be a little selfish. As in, if I want to take a trip to California for girls weekend or spend a lot of money on make-up and shoes and purses...then it's ok. When will I ever be able to do that?? I do not think this is a reason a person is not married. I know plenty of guys  who are single and are the same way, it's expected. Now, if they are still selfish when you get married and have a family that's another article for another day.

6. You're Not Good Enough.
Oh, I don't think that. You do. I can tell because you're not looking for a partner who is your equal. No, you want someone better than you are: better looking, better family, better job.
Here is what you need to know: You are enough right this minute. Period. Not understanding this is a major obstacle to getting married, since women who don't know their own worth make terrible wives. Why? You can fake it for a while, but ultimately you won't love your spouse any better than you love yourself. Smart men know this.
I see this at my son's artsy, progressive school. Of 183 kids, maybe six have moms who are as cute as you're trying to be. They're attractive, sure. They're just not objects. Their husbands (wisely) chose them for their character, not their cup size. I think sometimes we all have this mentality that we aren't pretty enough, tall enough, skinny enough, successful enough...but we are enough and we have to remember that...and our future husbands will love us for who we are.  None of the "enough" stuff will matter...and it shouldn't matter right now.

Alright, so that's the bad news. The good news is that I believe every woman who wants to can find a great partner. You're just going to need to get rid of the idea that marriage will make you happy. It won't. Once the initial high wears off, you'll just be you, except with twice as much laundry.
Because ultimately, marriage is not about getting something -- it's about giving it. Strangely, men understand this more than we do. Probably because for them marriage involves sacrificing their most treasured possession -- a free-agent penis -- and for us, it's the culmination of a princess fantasy so universal, it built Disneyland.

The bottom line is that marriage is just a long-term opportunity to practice loving someone even when they don't deserve it. Because most of the time, your messy, farting, macaroni-and-cheese eating man will not be doing what you want him to. But as you give him love anyway -- because you have made up your mind to transform yourself into a person who is practicing being kind, deep, virtuous, truthful, giving, and most of all, accepting of your own dear self -- you will find that you will experience the very thing you wanted all along.

Ok, ladies...that's the article. What is your take on it? Married ladies...do you agree with what she was saying? Let's talk.

A night in

Pinned Image

That pretty much sums up my non-eventful night last night. I took a bubble bath, listened to some Michael Buble Christmas music and just because I had pink champagne in my fridge...I deemed it a special occasion.

I also watched Modern Family, Happy Endings and Revenge...and then called it a night.

Oh, the ever so exciting life of a single 20-something gal.

On another note...I saw this last night on pinterest...thinking about trying it. Glitter underneath the nail polish.

Anyone try this? Does it work? Any other great holiday nail inspirations I should know of?

Have a great day lovelies!

Hell on Heels

I'm hell on heels say what you will
I've done made the devil a deal,
He made me pretty
He made me smart
and I'm gonna break me a million hearts
I'm hell on heels baby I'm coming for you

First off, I love this song and more importantly I love Miranda's new band, Pistol Annie's...I just had to throw that out there.

A few days ago at work, one of our former patients stopped in just to say hi, we probably haven't seen him in about six or eight months or so. It's always nice to see former patients and I love for them to stop by and visit and for us to see how they are doing and if they have progressed

What I don't like. Is the fact that the majority of said patients that come back and visit always ask one question.

"So, are you married yet?" when I answer no, it's always followed by, "Why, not?"

First of all, if I knew the answer to that question...then maybe I would be freakin married. What the hell kind of question is that to ask a person anyway?

Then my boss says that I am "hard to handle"

I have no idea what that is supposed to mean. I am not anywhere near hard to handle...at least I don't think so anyway....then I got to thinking...maybe I am hard to handle...maybe I am just a little bit Hell on Heels .

Miranda Lambert is hell on heels and it worked for her, she married Blake Shelton...now I just need to find a guy like him.

If being "hard to handle" means that a women is independent, knows what she wants, knows who she is and what she is looking for...then I will greatly take that title.

Fast forward to this morning.

I took Bella to her grooming appointment, it was way past time to get her hair did, little girl looks like a hot mess, her hair is all crazy. While I was waiting in line, I read her card. At the top of the card in big bold letters it read.

"Hard to handle"

Not even kidding.

My dog...hard to handle??

Coincidence...I think not ; )

We're just hell on heels, baby and we're coming for you!

Have you seen this man?

I know that title is a little strange, right?

You probably think I am missing someone...well, I kinda am. Turns out I just can't seem to find my future husband. Funny how that just keeps happening.

I thought maybe if I tell you what he looks like and the qualities that he posses...maybe you might be able to help me find him,eh?

Good...I thought so.

So, let's start with what he looks like...he's tall about 6'1 or taller, nice build, great arms...oh and he has a six pack like Ryan Gosling here...

Actually...Ryan Gosling himself wouldn't be so bad : )

He is a God fearing man, loves his Jesus, and wants to raise his family in church...speaking of family. He can't wait to start one. He is a family man. Super close with his own family. Loves college football, especially Oklahoma State...Go Pokes. Not necessarily a cowboy, but is a good ol' southern gentleman who wears square-toed boots.

Boots that are perfect for two-stepping at a red-dirt concert. Loves the outdoors and is a man's man, but also a real romantic and not afraid to show his true feelings.

Always opens doors for ladies, has great manners because his momma taught him those things.

Loves to go out and have a good time but also doesn't mind just hanging out at home kicked back watching a movie.

Do you think you have seen him? Maybe you know him? If so, please send him my way...I have been looking everywhere for him.

I would be ever so appreciative : )

A girl can dream right?

Texting and dating

So, yesterday I was bored. Day dreaming about how I wanted to leave work and go put my swimsuit on, grab some ice cold beer, my floaty and head to the lake and just float...I'd prefer a beach somewhere but this is Oklahoma and the lake is the closet thing I have.

Tear.

Instead I surfed the net and stumbled across this article about dating in this modern age. I know that I rely on texting way to much to communicate. I talk to few people on the phone, mainly my mom, best friends and my Nana, because Lord knows that lady can barely turn on her computer much less text me.

Love you Nana!

Texting is just so much easier I think. It's nice to just send a quick text like, "Hope you are having a great day!" or to schedule a dinner date or lunch date or whatever. Everyone is busy during the day and it's faster and more convenient this way.

However, there are certain things that should not be said via text messaging and this article sums it up.

1. Saying I love you for the first time
For the love of pete, don’t screw this one up. You only get to say “I love you” for the first time once. Even if you drop the “I,” it still counts.
2. Anything about being anywhere near your ex
If you’re friends with your ex, power to you. If there’s really nothing going on there, you shouldn’t have to bend over backwards to make sure that whoever you’re dating now doesn’t get jealous. However, saying that you have plans with your ex, in your actual, spoken voice is just common courtesy. Information dropped over text has a tendency to become a bigger deal than it has to be.
3. You’ve been “feeling weird” about things
“WHATDOYOUMEANYOU’VEBEENFEELINGWEIRDABOUTTHINGS?!?!”
Vague + Scary + Not-Actually-Available-To-Talk-About-It = Panic on the part of whoever you’re dating. Even the most cool-headed dater is likely to “feel weird” about your “feeling weird.” Figure out what you actually mean, then call or say it in person.
4. You might be pregnant
Cool. I “might” not freak out. Try to remember when you’re texting someone that they could be anywhere. Like work. Or at dinner with their mother. For example.
5. You’re pissed off/disappointed
Fighting over text is stupid. Even if you’re REALLY ANGRY, sending a text message into the ether isn’t going to make you feel any better about it. Take a deep breath. Either write something neutral or nothing at all. Then yell at them next time you see them in person.
6. Breaking up
Come on. You know better than that, don't you?
(I feel as though this is the modern version of a post it...anyone remember that episode on Sex and the City?)

Have a great day ladies!

BFF vs. BF

Hola Amiga's...you like my espanol this morning?

I'm bilingual...not really. The only Spanish I have ever learned has been from Jose at Senor Tequila's.

Any who, enough about my non-Spanish speaking self...I think it's time for a single gal girl power post.

I know you are excited.

Sadly, I can't take credit for this, I found it whilst avoiding work and surfing the Internet.

It's what I do best...avoiding work.

I find this article fitting because just the other day Miss Football and I were talking and over-analyzing everything(it's what we do best) and we said that we are going to have a non-boy talk week. We are striking them from our daily lives just like we are striking sugar from our diet.

I think the no-sugar thing will be easier.

or not, I just ate a peanut-butter M&M...oops.

We are just so over being single and dating and waiting for those dumb guys to text us or call us or whatever.

O.V.E.R IT!

This article found here is just what the doctor ordered.

Believe it: a true friend is way more valuable than a boyfriend. The same is true when you're 26 as when you're 86. So while some of you may be scrambling to meet a guy or working overtime to make a relationship happen, just remember that your best friend is for life. The guys will come and go — and they'll cause a lot of drama in between. In case you need a reminder, I've listed 20 reasons a BFF is more important than a BF!

1. A best friend doesn't care if you haven't shaved your legs or painted your nails today.
2. A best friend doesn't make you watch boxing on TV.
3. A best friend is equally as literate in The Bachelor and DWTS as you are.
4. A best friend doesn't booty call you.
5. A best friend isn't concerned whether you're Julia Child or not.
6. You won't have to diet to meet your best friend's mom.
7. A best friend doesn't talk about marriage just because s/he thinks it's what you want to hear.
8. A best friend doesn't spook at the word "baby."
9. A best friend understands your issues about bangs, periods, nasty bosses, push-up bras, straightening irons, and driving in heels, because she has the same issues.

I have the best family and friends ever.period.end.of.sentence.

There was this one time that Kelly over at Kelly's Korner posted a "Show us your singles link-up"...well, Miss football and I are the lone single ones of our group. So, what does Miss Football do...she links both of us to this blog.

In hopes that we will find our soul mates : )

I hope this happens

Even if it doesn't happen this way (meeting through a blog) I know that I am truly loved. Why? You ask.

Let me tell you, my best friends, mom and baby brother all wrote some incredibly, sweet, wonderful amazing comments about me...enough to make this girl cry. We all know I am a crier anyway.

You know you are truly loved when the people you cherish most in life say some pretty amazing things about you...when they didn't have to, mind you.

I did tell my mom and brother to say nice things about me, you know if they want me to get married and all.

I won't type what everyone said, if you would like to, you can find that here http://cousinswissmister.blogspot.com/2011/06/lyndse-our-blonde-oklahoma-girl.html

but I will write what my baby brother said...everything that everyone said means the world to me, but I'd be lying if I said that his didn't mean the most. Those teenage boys aren't the greatest at showing their love, so it's nice to know he loves me : )

My "Lil" sister Lyndse is an amazing person. You will never meet a funnier girl in your life. I couldn't ask for a better sister to help guide me through life. She has always been there for me when i needed her and will always be. She is truly a beautiful person inside and out.

I must say I love him to pieces!

P.S. Feel free to send any tall, dark and handsome men my way.

I can blog in color...yes, I can.

I just realized this the other day, that I can blog in color. Yes, I have been blogging since January and I am just now realizing this. I am not sure if you know this about me or not...but I don't really pay attention to most things.

This week has been crazy busy for me, I haven't been able to focus on anything but my Survivor dinner tonight. Thank goodness it is almost over. I just pray it goes well.

As much as I pride myself for being a single independent gal, who can do things without the help of others...there comes a time when it would be nice to have someone there to help you. Examples as follows...

I have recently started using a self-tanner. LOVE the stuff...it is seriously amazing. I look like I have been fake baking on an island. Problem being is that I only look that way from the front. See, when you live alone, you have no one to put that self-tanner on your back. I can only reach so far. So, you see...I got a nice little tan on the front, but than my back...just as pale as casper.

I was at work awhile back (by myself) went to the bathroom, and there I saw it. The biggest most gigantic spider I have ever seen just staring at me. I froze, like literally, I had no idea how I was ever going to get out of the bathroom. I was just going to have to sit there forever until someone came looking for me or the spider left. I started to throw things at it, but then I thought that might anger it and it might attack me...this thing was like Godzilla size spider. Not kidding. I think I stayed in there for a good 15 minutes having a staring match at this spider telling it to go away. Finally it moved and I ran out of that bathroom so fast. Then I found a boy to go in there and kill it. Boys kill spiders. I think that's the only thing they are good for.

The other day I was just chilling at home, it was in the evening time, I was catching up on my soaps that I DVR'd and drinking some water...and then I choked. On my water.  We are talking couldn't breathe, gasping for air kind of choking. I could have died. No one was there to save me. My dogs sure as hell aren't any help. Luckily I survived the deadly water. I could just see the headline now, "Single girl chokes on water. If only she had someone there to save her." It really is a dangerous thing to live alone.

See these are just prime examples on why sometimes it would just be nice to have someone there who's got your back...you know to make sure your fake tan is on even and so you don't choke and die on water and to rescue you from spiders.

Single and Happy

"Being single used to mean that nobody wanted you. Now it means you're pretty sexy and you're taking your time deciding how you want your life to be and who you want to spend it with." Sex and the City

Since when did we feel the need to put the word happy after single? Do so many people out there think that being single is a negative thing? I will admit, I have my days were I am all pity me, why am I still single? Don't we all have those days? Aren't we entitled to those days? As a 20-something gal...venturing towards the downside of my twenties...I am not at all where I thought I would be. I thought I would meet the man I was suppose to marry in college and after we graduate we would get married and surely by now I would have my first child. Ya...umm...that didn't happen. Not so much. I am NO WHERE close to that actually. God has a funny sense of humor, doesn't he? Just when you think you have your whole life planned out, he just sits back and changes the direction...that little joker : )

As this lovely day of LOVE approaches I am yet again single...but not alone. I refuse to use the words single and alone. Because I am not alone. I have a wonderful family and some pretty kick ass amazing friends. Best friends to be exact. So, I may be single but I am definitely not alone : ) Oh, I also have these two little dogs in my life, who every morning at 5:00am reassure me that I am most definitely not alone!!

I thought it would be fitting to do a blog on the greatness of being single. Every woman is single at some point in their life and instead of wallowing in it....well, you can wallow sometimes...everyone needs a good wallow, I thought why not embrace it for once. No more "Black Valentines Day" or "Single Awareness Day"...I am going to celebrate the joys of being single. There are just certain things a singleton can do that a coupled up person can not.

1. Get to know yourself. I know...sounds dumb right? Miss Football and I have these Single Gal talks all the time...we are the lone singletons in our group. You would think as a single gal, with no responsibilities--as far as children, boyfriends, husband, etc. go...you would know yourself pretty well. Well, not really. I am still trying to figure out who I am and what it is I am meant to do. So cliche, I know. I just think so many times, when a girl gets into a relationship, she molds herself to what that person wants her to be...or what she thinks he wants her to be. You should be so sure of who you are as a person that no matter who you are with...they won't define you. You define you and only you. So, being a single gal lets you figure that out. Spend time alone, go shopping alone, watch a movie alone, take a bubble bath, drink some wine and listen to music...that's what I do. As Pauly D from Jersey Shore says..."Do you!"

OSU Homecoming

My momma and I at an OSU football game

2. Embrace the singleness. At some point, we are going to meet our future husbands. We won't be single for ever...I hope not anyway : ) So, do what you want. Its ok to be selfish, when will you ever get to be selfish in your entire life again? Once you get married you are no longer thinking for yourself...and if you are, you might have some problems. Especially when you have children...you can forget putting yourself first. I have learned from the best. The most un-selfish person I know is my momma, I am 26 years old, baby brother is almost 18 and for 26 years my mom has not once thought of herself first. Never. She has always put her family first. My mom never really got the chance to be single and free, my mom was a young mother...so when she was my age she was caring for a child...she didn't have the option to jump on a plane for a girls weekend in Vegas like I do. Or take a road trip last minute, jump on a plane to see some of your best friends just because, buy numerous amounts of clothes, make-up, whatever it is YOU want. Now...when you are single, is the time to do so. I am not saying max out your credit cards on these, because lets be responsible here. But embrace the fact that as a single gal...you have the ability to do so.
Girls weekend in San Fransisco

4. Drink wine for breakfast, eat cereal for dinner. You don't have to do those exactly...but you can. Why not? When your single, you don't have to cook for someone else, you don't have to worry about what they like to eat or drink. If you want to eat Fruity Pebbles for dinner every night...so be it. I don't really recommend the wine for breakfast thing...maybe a mimosa...get at least some nutrients : )

5. Last but not least...just go have fun. Go out with your girlfriends. Join a recreational sport team, like volleyball( I haven't, but I am thinking about it when the weather is warmer). Jump on a plane at moments notice to see your besties, eat cheesecake, drink a bottle of wine, go on a shopping spree, sky dive...most of all do what makes you happy...because until you are happy with yourself, how do you expect to be happy with someone else?

Oh and P.S. on a unrelated note...how do you like my fancy new blog design...courtesy of Lauren at Blue Lux Studio She is pretty much awesome and I love her...more on this later : )

Why thank you for that lovely email, "The Nest"

"Some people are settling down, some people are settling and some people refuse to settle for anything less than butterflies." - Sex in the City

I am sure you have heard of a little website called The Knot, if you haven't its a website for newly engaged or newly married couples to start planning their wedding. There are tons of ideas on this site for basically any kind of wedding you could dream of having. It's quite useful, you know...if your engaged and what not. I, however, am not engaged...trust me if I was, there would be a giant billboard stating that fact. Anyway, there are two other sites that go along with The Knot, there is The Nest and The Bump. Clearly, I am not signing up for The Bump anytime soon, and we all know there isn't a billboard on the highway anywhere saying I am getting married...so no page for me at the The Knot. However, The Nest is quite useful for this single 20-something gal. It has great ideas for decorating-which I need, cooking-a girls gotta eat, and budgeting-I should probably start one of those! I love this website, and just because I am not married and starting a little love nest, doesn't mean I can't reap the rewards of all these ideas too.

Well, the other day I receive an email from The Nest, telling me what days I would be ovulating and that those are prime time days for having a baby and joining The Bump. Umm...hello?? Excuse me while I choke on my water...what did I sign up for here? I just want to know what throw pillows I should use in my living room, or find some cute night stands for my bedroom, maybe even a good recipe or two. I, for sure DON"T want need to know when I am ovulating. Gross!!!!

For future reference, The Nest if you feel the need to send me any emails, please send me an email letting me know the prime time days for finding my future husband...now that is something I could definitely use!!

XOXO,
Lyndse
