The Weekend

It seems these days I only tend to blog on Mondays.
I think like anything I start...it's always easier to start on a Monday.
Diets, working out, blogging...I always start with good intentions...and then, well you know...you don't see another blog until the following Monday.

I'll try and do better this week.

My mom came down for a visit this weekend

I tried to convince my Uncle to let me ride his bike this weekend.
He pretty much wasn't having it, so I just decided for now I will take pictures...I will work on him some more, surely he will let me ride it

You hit a few curbs and what not, and people think you can't drive a motorcycle...puhhlease.

My Nana and I decided to make some cookies yesterday.
She got out her cookbook, and I asked her which recipe we were doing, she told me...so I proceeded to get the first couple of ingredients.
When I looked down at the bowl, I told Nana she forgot to add the brown sugar..she said,"We don't put brown sugar in this recipe."
I was like..."Yes we do, it says so right here!"

Well...apparently the two of us, we were looking at different recipes and we each were putting in our own ingredients into the bowl.

Needless to say, I walked out of the kitchen.
The cookies turned out pretty good though.
Considering they were from two different recipes.

Weekend update

The only good thing about Monday's is the weekend update...

with Sami, Dana, and Leeann

Friday night I went to dinner with Bestie and her new hubby to celebrate his birthday and to say adios as they were leaving for their Honeymoon to the Dominican Republic on Saturday.

Saturday my mom and I got up early to spend the day with horses and children. In my town there is an organization called Bit by Bit. Bit by Bit is a therapeutic riding program that is currently part of the local college in my hometown.  The program specializes in equine therapy for those individuals who have special needs or cope with challenges in their lives.

From their website:

The benefits of therapeutic horseback riding are varied:
  • Builds strength
  • Improves balance
  • Increases mobility
  • Promotes speech
  • Develops self-esteem
  • Works on improving emotional health
  • Creates a fun and challenging learning environment
Therapeutic horseback riding is a growing resource for health, behavioral and educational specialists. Students who have lost the ability to move in a three-dimensional way, make great progress through the experience of riding and reintegrating the use of:
  • muscles
  • cognitive processing
  • motor planning and strength
  • maintaining balanced emotional stability
  • skills to be successful in school, work and life
Students termed “at risk” benefit from the emotional bond of handling the horse, performing tasks of responsible care-giving as well as the accomplishment of horsemanship skills, that carry over to the home, family relationships, self-esteem and school activities.

Saturday was a special camp day. They organized a day where children who are undergoing treatment for cancer could come out and spend the day riding horses, go on a hay ride, visit a petting zoo, and decorate their mini horses for a parade, this was my favorite part.
It combined my two passions...helping people with cancer and mini horses.
It was a great day, even if it was 108 degrees outside...it was a special day. Just seeing the huge smile on the kids faces as they rode their horses and played with the animals and for a brief second forgot all about the treatments, the doctors, the hospitals...they just got to be kids.
Which is what they are supposed to be.

The day was just perfect and after hearing about the tragedy in Colorado...spending the day with kids and animals and hearing laughs and watching them run around...that was refreshing.

Not to mention the fact I have this weird crazy obsession with mini horses...pretty sure seeing them and getting to decorate them(the horses loved it) and watch the parade was like a real life "My little Pony" day for me.

Please take note of the glitter...lots and lots of glitter.

Seriously...how freaking cute are these mini's? The littlest one is just a baby.

This is such a great organization...growing up with horses, I am a firm believer that they can make everything better. They are such gentle animals.

I've seen a saying and as cheezy as it may sound...it is so very true.

"My therapist lives in a barn"

Have a great Monday y'all.

Weekend update

Hellllooooo!

First things first...today is my MOMMA'S birthday.
She is my favorite, obvs, since she is my mom.
LOVE YOU TO THE MOON AND BACK...and I hope you have the best birthday!!
Enjoy your new car :)

Second...time for a little weekend recap

with Sami, Leeann, and Dana

Friday night, I went with some friends of mine to a little dive bar. I'm talking hole in the wall, redneck, country bar.
What better of a bar then to sing Karaoke in, right?
After a few drinks in...I was ready to channel my inner country music singer.
I sang some Dixie Chicks, Pistol Annie's, a little Aretha Franklin, Adele...you name it...I sung it.

Some random dude even bought me a rose, because he said I sounded like Miranda Lambert, he might have had too many drinks...however, I have always wanted to be a country singer, so I will take it!

Saturday my mom and I did a little make-up shopping, I stumbled across some new lip gloss that I ABSOLUTELY love.

I got it in Kanani

Then later that night, the moment I have been waiting for since the news that Channing and Matthew were going to be in a stripper movie...
Magic freaking Mike.
Theater full of ladies of all ages, teeny poppers and grandma's
Let's just say the story line was a little blah, however...who really pays attention to the story line anyway when both Channing and Matthew practically bared it all.
Just saying.

Sunday was spent at the lake.
Where I proceeded to get yet another sunburn.
I even applied sunscreen, SPF 45...
Not sure why I bother with sunscreen anymore.

That's all for now...xoxo!

Friday's letters

Photobucket
Thanks to the lovely Ashley, this is weekly favorite!!

Dear 106 degrees but really 116 with the heat index....I love summer, I really do, I don't mind 100 degree temps, I would prefer the 90s. However, I do not like sweating my make-up off when I walk outside or the frizzy hair. Hence why I have worn my hair in a messy bun every single day this week. Every day. It's also why I decided that ice cream was perfectly ok yesterday. Because it's hot. Ice cream is cold.  Dear Bravo...You really must stop making such good shows...I now am officially addicted to "Miss Advised" it's nice knowing I'm not the only screw up when it comes to dating. Thank you for that. My DVR however, probably doesn't like the fact that it constantly records shows on Bravo. Dear Bella...I'm so glad your hair is finally growing back, I can almost take you out in public without people thinking you are a possum. I love you so much even if you do look like one without hair on your tail. As promised, I will post no pictures of your hair until it is all grown back. I got your back.  Dear Magic Mike, aka Channing Tatum...There are not enough words to say how excited I am to see you this weekend.  Dear Lake...I also plan on seeing you this weekend. I need a tan, not a sunburn...but a tan. Dear Mom...Happy early birthday, I promise one of these days I will get your actual age right...instead of aging you by one year. Apparently I'm not good at math or remembering. I love you so much. Dear baby brother...I hope you find a good team roping partner...I am trying my best to find you one. Qualifications are: Tall, cute, around my age, single of course(gotta look out for myself here you know)...oh and they have to be a good roper so you can win.

Have a great weekend loves!

Pinterest DIY ideas

You know what Wednesday means....another Pinterest inspired post.

Linking up with Michelle over at The Vintage Apple.

Today's pinterest will be a little different.
Monday will be my beautiful Momma's birthday...and I've already told her not to read this post, because I am blogging about what I should get/make her.

See my mom never wants or needs anything...she always likes anything you get her, but she would rather us spend our money on things we need or want.
She's a good momma like that.
Anyway...my mom LOVES to make stuff, she's crafty, that one...and she has really been having the "Let's go to old antique stores that smell real bad and the floors creek and weird old creepy dolls just stare at you as you walk by and see if we can find something to makeover"

Don't get me wrong, I do love old things and making them into new things, but sometimes I'd rather go to Target or something where things are already in the state you want to purchase them.

Some of my mom's latest ideas have come from this show which she absolutely loves...Junk Gypsy. It's on HGTV..and it's pretty cool what these ladies come up with. They did Miranda and Blake's wedding reception and from the pictures and what I heard...it was amaze-balls.

With all that being said...here are some Pinterest finds, I think would be easy for Moi to make...and super cute.

These may be just more for me...I do always do that, buy my mom something...and get it for me too.

Redneck Wine Glasses
Mason Jar wine glasses

Picture frames...who couldn't use more picture frames, right?

DIY picture frames...love the prints and colors

I've pretty much decided that I'm making these chairs...you buy the kit at Home Depot and you can paint them whatever color you want...my mom is always looking for some fun outdoor chairs.

Ali Dee from Texas Women

Maybe a rustic book shelf...

Stylish rustic shelving unit... for everything!

My Mom loves her coffee...

31 insanely easy and clever DIY projects

I think these are a good start...what are some good ideas??

Weekend Update

Why does Monday come so soon?
and why does Monday have to come with 105 degree weather??
(Remind me of this 105 degree temps when there is a blizzard and I'm complaining because I don't like cold weather)

Doing a little weekend blog hopping today and linking up with Sami, Dana, and Leeann...

So, since it's summer time in Oklahoma...that means my Friday nights are spent watching a certain cowboy try and win some $$$$ at the Rodeo's...some day he's gonna be famous and make it to the NFR...where he will then take his sister.

I said to little brother the other day, "If you were a famous country singer like I don't know, Scotty McGreery, and you went to an awards show(Scotty took his sister)...who would you take as your date?"
Baby brother: "Megan Fox"
Me:"You can't take her she's married and way to old for you and not to mention pregnant. Besides your supposed to say you would take me, Scotty McGreery took his sister to an awards show."
Baby brother: "Good thing I'm not a country singer then."

See what I put up with.

Baby Brother

Mom and baby brother

Although he looked cute...he didn't win any money.
He did however win some money at a different rodeo this weekend, but it's a HOT SOB out there...and since he hypothetically said he would take Megan Fox as his date to an award show...this sister didn't go watch him.

I showed him.

If I'm going to do this weekend wrap up, I really need to start taking more pictures of my weekend.

Saturday I got up early and cleaned my house(exciting I know) and then went and did a little shopping, picked up some make-up at sephora. I swear, I run out of every thing at the exact same time...nothing like dropping a hunk of change on make-up products.
I'm kinda of a brand snob, but thanks to my gal Lindsey over at The Bargain Blonde...she has  turned me on over to E.L.F...and I love that stuff. I normally use MAC foundation and powder but have recently changed my powder to the HD definition powder that E.L.F. has...and it's awesome, and at six bucks or so...you can't beat that.

I also picked up some lip glosses for a dollar.
A freaking dollar.

So, with all that money saved I treated myself to a Cherry Limeade at Sonic.

I know...big spender I am.

I then made some Oreo Truffles for Bestie's bridal shower...need to take more pictures of this stuff.

Oh I almost forgot....I got a phone call one night at like 10 o'clock. I'm already in bed...because I'm cool like that...and it's a number I don't recognize so I don't answer it.
They don't leave a message.
They call back an hour later...this time they leave a message.

In a drunken guys voice he says,
"Nichole, why does your voice mail say Lyndse...that is not your name. Call me back!"

I laughed it off...then remembered that back in the day, when my friend and I would go out, we would give alias names and occupations. My alias name was Nichole, a pediatrician. She was Chloe, a helicopter pilot.
*Note to self...do a post about said nights out when we gave out fake alias*

So, this guy really could have been calling me, thinking my name was Nichole...or he really could have just been a drunken guy calling the wrong number.
Still, it made me laugh and reminded me that next time I give out my alias...to also give an alias number.

That is all folks!

Hellloooo

Helllloooo my loves!

I hope you all had a fab weekend and that you got out there to enjoy the sunshine...we tried to take full advantage of the sun this weekend...and tried to soak it up in hopes of me getting a base tan so I won't completely turn into a lobster while on vacation.

Which by the way is TOMORROW.

That is right...I have to wake up before the ass-crack of dawn and get my happy sleep deprived self to the airport...I'm thinking four in the morning requires lots and lots of coffee or a mimosa.

Who came up with the phrase, "ass-crack of dawn"...that's kinda weird, no?

I'm actually quite proud of myself and my packing abilities this trip...I should have taken a picture to prove to you. Normally I just kinda throw things into the suitcase which is so not very organized...however, I channeled my bff Amy, who is like organization queen, and I have out done myself. I made a list, checked everything off, rolled things so they would fit better...I even strategically places me beach hat and fedora to where they fit perfectly.

This week I have some great blogs lined up for you by some wonderful people...y'all will love them : )

Let's see what else is going on....oh, we went fishing...per usual. We finally caught a fish bigger than our hand...here's proof.

My momma...love her : )

I, of course, only caught little fish...which frankly made me angry.
I thought fishing was supposed to be relaxing.

I've got my DVR all set to record a weeks worth of shows...because Lord knows I can't miss a second of my TV shows.

Ok loves....hope y'all have a wonderful day and week...and I will be thinking about ya while I am sipping those drinks with the umbrella's in them while tanning on the beach.

Randoms

A couple of random things for your morning....

Based on my ability to win at Wii golf and after kicking some major a$$ at miniature golf yesterday against the baby brother and mom...I am fairly certain I would become a pro-golfer in no time.
Mind you, I've never actually played real golf...but I'm sure I would rock at that.
If anything, I can totally drive the golf cart.

How cute is baby brother...even with his mustache.

It's mustache May or something like that...I personally don't understand it. In my opinion there is only one man in this world that looks good with a stache...Tom Selleck.

Costa Rica is calling my name....one week and one day to be exact.
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't the least bit excited about this and that I have already laid out the majority of my clothes and styled outfits.

While watching Mob Wives last night, I saw that there is going to be a Mob Wives Chicago...I am so excited about this.

Speaking of wives...WTF is wrong with Teresa Guidice. I used to like her, but girl has gone bat shit crazy.

Who's excited to watch Emily tonight as the new Bachelorette?? Love her and I have a feeling this will be an interesting season.

That's enough randomness for the day.

Dear...

Helllloooo Firday.

Today I'm linking up with Ashley for Friday's letters. It's such a cute idea and everyone is doing it...so I decided to jump on the band wagon.

Photobucket

Dear Friday...thank goodness you are here. I've waited all week for you, let's make this day a good one, k? Dear Payday...just like I've waited for Friday...you always make me and my bank account very happy. Dear bills....you suck!! Dear Costa Rica....I will be gracing you with my presence in just over a week..I know you are just as excited to see me as I am you. Dear stupid Celsius temperatures in CR....I about freaked out on you yesterday when I was checking the forecast and it said 30 degrees...thank goodness I realized it was in the wrong format and that the weather there is a perfect 90 degrees...you almost ruined my whole packing situation.  Dear mom...you are the best mom ever and I love you to the moon and back. Thanks for always being there for me and for baby brother...you are kind, smart, beautiful, loving, generous and just overall awesome. I hope you have the best Mother's day....Love you!! Dear Bella...your hair looks great, I was worried for you but it turned out quite nice. Phew.

Dear lovely followers...y'all are great...hope y'all have a wonderful weekend and to all the momma's out there, Happy Mother's Day.

Fishing

Hello loves.

Hope your weekend was wonderful. Mine was well...eventful.

I've decided that my new hobby should be fishing.

This girl loves to fish.
Oklahoma country girl at heart, I guess.

While googling how to catch bigger fish.....I may love to fish but my love hasn't really gotten me anything bigger than a baby fish.

Put it this way, if I had to depend on my fishing skills to feed myself...I would probably starve to death...not for lack of catching fish...just for lack of size.

Anyway back to what I found while googling...they have a women's fishing tournament.
I've contemplated very hard about this and thought about two things...
1. I for sure need to enter this, as soon as I learn how to catch big fish.
2. Women's fishing tournaments probably happen at the same time as a men's fishing  tournaments...therefore I could meet a potential husband.
Just saying.

Well, while trying to up my fishing game this weekend two things happened.

I got my first sunburn of the summer and it's not even summer.
I'm a white, white, white girl...therefore, I am now lobster red.

and I learned to not wear flipflops while fishing. Oh and my mom is not useful in situations where I fall and can't get up.

I guess that makes three things I learned.

Let me explain.

I decided to walk to the edge of the lake and wash my hands off...instead I slid down the rock butt first straight into the lake...I tried to get back up said rock but it was so slippery that I fell again..not only once but twice...all while my mom is laughing hysterically. My pole went one way and I went the other.

A few scrapes and bruises and sunburn later...I have decided to re-think these fishing tournaments.

The weekend

Hello, Monday!

This weekend was a crazy one in Oklahoma. For days the weathermen had been predicting big storms, so naturally, my paranoid self, was all sorts of crazy this weekend in anticipation of the big storms.

Yes, I have lived in Oklahoma my entire life.
Yes, I know we have tornadoes
and now we have earthquakes
but this does not mean I like them or want to stand in my front yard like a lunatic watching them go by nor do I have the desire to chase them.

I just don't.

Thankfully, where I lived we just got lots of rain. Unfortunately, though some parts of Oklahoma were not so lucky...so if you wouldn't mind adding the families that were affected to your prayers, I am sure right now they could use it.

In other news, I did go to a pretty kick ass concert Thursday...if you have never been to a Miranda Lambert concert...you must do so now. Even if you don't like country music...you will love this show. I have seen her several times before, but this concert was definitely one of my top favorite shows.

She rocked the house...but would you really expect anything less?

My momma and I

Miranda Lambert

I must get that belt

Jennifer and I

Other then the concert and my paranoia of the storms...I had a rather low key weekend...which is probably best...because the next few weekends are crazy for me. All the planning and stressing over Relay For Life is coming to an end...this weekend and next weekend are my big events. So, wish me luck...as in luck that I don't go crazy and start adding vodka to my orange juice when I wake up in the morning.

Although, that might be a good idea.

Happy Thursday

Not much to say today other than the fact that tonight I am going to see this lady...also known as Mrs. Blake Shelton...

(I want my hair to look like that)
Fingers crossed that Mr. Blake Shelton himself makes an appearance.

with this lady...also known as my momma...

We will also be seeing these handsome men....

In case you are new here...welcome by the way...but I absolutely LOVE Miranda...I mean, the title of my blog is named after one of my favorite songs by her... Airstream song...so I am beyond pumped for this concert.

Now, what to wear?? That is the ever so popular question.

Woo hoo..I am so excited!!

Have a GREAT day!!

Looking back on 2011

As we get closer and closer to the New Year...I figured I would do a little re-cap of all things 2011. Is it just me or did 2011 go by incredibly fast? Like lightening speed fast.

So, without further adieu...I give you 2011...Blonde Oklahoma girl style.

Ringing in 2011 with some of my favorite people in Ft. Worth, Texas. Billy Bob's...I love Ft. Worth,  I love Billy Bobs, and I love cowboys.

The day we flew back, Sara G...in the top picture found out she was pregnant with little Miss Mia.

Oh and before we end with January...we had a little thing I like to call a FREAKING BLIZZARD....where I was stuck inside for days, how many I don't remember. If I learned anything at all, it's to stock up on the wine.

February, Miss Football flew in for little linebackers first birthday and we all got to spend some best friend time together, with dinner, wine and a hockey game.

A wedding...at a hockey game?? Yes, it happened. The mascot was his best man and the cheerleaders were her bridal party.

March...I spent some good quality time with my favorite people, Nana and Papa and celebrated Papa's birthday.

April...baby brother turned the big 18

and we celebrated by taking him to his first Calf Fry in Stillwater.

May...baby brother graduated high school...so proud of him.

June was pretty low key...actually very hot...so my days were spent at the lake or pool.

July brought my momma's birthday and a camping trip for the girls over the Fourth of July....no pictures...but it was a blast!!

I also squeezed in a little NKOTBSB concert....my thirteen year old self was very happy that day.

At the end of July, the BFF's and I took a girls weekend trip to San Francisco...where we went wine tasting in Napa and ran in a little thing called the San Francisco Marathon. Three of us participated in the progressive 5K...but Miss Football ran her first Half-Marathon and we were all their to cheer her on.

I sang a little Karaoke

Our half-marathoner

Here's to my first half happening in 2012!!

August...I celebrated turning the big 27 in Kansas City with my mom, bestie and bestie's mom.

Little miss Mia was born in September...remember the friend who found out she was preggers on New Year's day...

Sporting her favorite school.

October..world's greatest homecoming celebration in my favorite town, at my favorite school, with some of my favorite people...

Oktoberfest party....

and just to add it in...not sure what month it was...but we had an EARTHQUAKE...several actually. Weirdest thing I have ever experienced.

November...Thanksgiving spent with the ones I love the most...my mom, nana and papa and baby brother. Fun times playing dominos. I seriously need to take more pictures....New Year's resolution...take more pictures.

December....Oklahoma State University beat the other school in Bedlam to become BIG XII CHAMPS FOR THE FIRST TIME!!!!!!!

The best friends who were at the game...sadly I was not...but that's ok because I was waving my wheat from the comfort of my home, where it wasn't freezing cold.

Christmas....spent with my family...once again I have no pictures...and NYE 2012 will be spent on the mountains snow skiing!!

Looking forward to all the amazing, wonderful things to come in 2012!!
