Weekend update

The only good thing about Monday's is the weekend update...

with Sami, Dana, and Leeann

Friday night I went to dinner with Bestie and her new hubby to celebrate his birthday and to say adios as they were leaving for their Honeymoon to the Dominican Republic on Saturday.

Saturday my mom and I got up early to spend the day with horses and children. In my town there is an organization called Bit by Bit. Bit by Bit is a therapeutic riding program that is currently part of the local college in my hometown.  The program specializes in equine therapy for those individuals who have special needs or cope with challenges in their lives.

From their website:

The benefits of therapeutic horseback riding are varied:
  • Builds strength
  • Improves balance
  • Increases mobility
  • Promotes speech
  • Develops self-esteem
  • Works on improving emotional health
  • Creates a fun and challenging learning environment
Therapeutic horseback riding is a growing resource for health, behavioral and educational specialists. Students who have lost the ability to move in a three-dimensional way, make great progress through the experience of riding and reintegrating the use of:
  • muscles
  • cognitive processing
  • motor planning and strength
  • maintaining balanced emotional stability
  • skills to be successful in school, work and life
Students termed “at risk” benefit from the emotional bond of handling the horse, performing tasks of responsible care-giving as well as the accomplishment of horsemanship skills, that carry over to the home, family relationships, self-esteem and school activities.

Saturday was a special camp day. They organized a day where children who are undergoing treatment for cancer could come out and spend the day riding horses, go on a hay ride, visit a petting zoo, and decorate their mini horses for a parade, this was my favorite part.
It combined my two passions...helping people with cancer and mini horses.
It was a great day, even if it was 108 degrees outside...it was a special day. Just seeing the huge smile on the kids faces as they rode their horses and played with the animals and for a brief second forgot all about the treatments, the doctors, the hospitals...they just got to be kids.
Which is what they are supposed to be.

The day was just perfect and after hearing about the tragedy in Colorado...spending the day with kids and animals and hearing laughs and watching them run around...that was refreshing.

Not to mention the fact I have this weird crazy obsession with mini horses...pretty sure seeing them and getting to decorate them(the horses loved it) and watch the parade was like a real life "My little Pony" day for me.

Please take note of the glitter...lots and lots of glitter.

Seriously...how freaking cute are these mini's? The littlest one is just a baby.

This is such a great organization...growing up with horses, I am a firm believer that they can make everything better. They are such gentle animals.

I've seen a saying and as cheezy as it may sound...it is so very true.

"My therapist lives in a barn"

Have a great Monday y'all.

It's about that time

Hey y'all.

In over a month I turn 28.
twenty freaking eight.

It's not the turning a year older thing that is freaking me out...it's all the other stuff.
I'm slightly paranoid about  a lot of things, just ask my closest friends and my mom.

For example...if one more person tells me my eggs are depleting and I need to hurry up and find a man and get knocked up...I will punch you in the face...or better yet, your ovaries.
Sorryimnotsorry.

When people say stuff like this to me, I take straight to google and look up a bunch of stuff I probably shouldn't be reading...because, A. It's not true and B. By the time I've looked up all the stuff at Web MD...I've already diagnosed myself with five different diseases and whatnot.

Because I'm a crazy person.

However, there are a few things I know I need to work on that are legit and that I have been sort of slacking on in my younger years.
By there is no time like the present...plus nothing says your no spring chicken like almost being two years from thirty.

Things I'm working on:

1. A great skin care regimen.

For the most part I'm very good about my skin...in fact people think I'm a lot younger than what I really am all the time. I think I owe that much to genetics...I mean, look at my momma.

All the time people tell us we could be sisters....thanks for the good genes, Mom.

But my skincare could use some work. I always always wash my face before bed...well, that hasn't always been the case...but definitely more so now that I am no longer 21.
I wash my face in the morning and I always use moisturizer before my make-up and my moisturizer has SPF in it as well as my foundation.

I have heard great things about the Timewise skincare line by Mary Kay, but I hadn't ever used it. I went to a ladies house earlier this week and tried all of it.
Y'all...I'm not lying to you when I say this...my face felt a thousand times better. Honestly, it felt like a baby's bottom.
No lie.

Needless to say, this will become a regular in my skincare routine...actually, now I feel like I fully have a routine.
Of course if this doesn't work...bring on the botox.

2. Getting in shape

AMEN

I'm not sure how many times I have mentioned getting in shape and eating better on this here blog...probably a thousand. I really do start off great with great intentions, then a birthday happens, or a bachelorette party or a wedding...and I get off track.
Basically all that I wrote were just excuses.
Well, enough excuses...I've have spent the majority of my twenties fluctuating at my weight...and it's not even the weight...I just want to live a healthier lifestyle.
I want to like how my body looks in the mirror.
If I'm being honest, I want to look good naked.
I mean, who doesn't?
I feel like I'm doing a disservice to my degree(I have a bachelor's in Nutritional Science and Dietetics) by being a fat ass.
Tis true.
Well, enough of that nonsense...I want spend the latter part of my twenties being healthy and in good shape.
It's all about prevention...at least that's what all those google searches keep telling me.

So, bring it on 28.
I'm ready for ya...and I'm gonna kick yo ass.

The weekend

I'm a day late and a dollar short(isn't that the truth) on talking about my weekend festivities, but better late than never, no?

I'm not sure how many times I've said to myself in person, yes...I tend to tell myself things...like, "Self...why is your ass so fat? "Self, why you eat so many cookies when you know your ass so fat?" and "Self, why you not take any pictures when you do fun stuff...so people know you actually don't just sit in your house like an old person all the time."

Ya, self...take more pictures...and work on that ass fatness thing.

Friday night...I sang Karaoke again...this is sort of starting to become a ritual...my Karaoke singing in a hole in the wall bar...which is the best place to sing, because more than likely these people don't care how well you sing.
Even if you do rock a mean Aretha Franklin...R.E.S.P.E.C.T.
After Karaoke, we decided we were indeed in college again and decided to eat at IHOP, well...my head may have been saying that I was young and fun, but when you fall asleep on your table and don't eat your pancakes...the rest of your body is saying your old...and you should have stayed home and gone to bed at ten.
Not get home at four in the morning.

Saturday night was girls night with some of my favorite people...we started with a drink called "Beeritas"...I have never had that drink, but I have seen it on Pinterest.
Here is the recipe

beeritas

We used Sprite and two Corona's...Oh Em Gee...they are good!

Clearly they are good by my "deer in the headlight look"

We then ventured for more margaritas...because a girl can never have too many to a restaurant called El Guapo...

Then we had beers and shenanigans at a little place called McNellies...

We ended the night at a bar called "Enzo"...which can I just say looks like a cute little hipster place in the front, but then you go to the back where the bathrooms are and there is a rave going on...not kidding, I'm not generally a rave person...but I am a dancer person...and I do love some glow sticks...so count me in.

All in all, it was a great night with some great friends.

Now, on a serious note, just an update to one of the little ones I had mentioned yesterday in a prayer request. Baby Aiden became an angel yesterday, he had such a short life here on Earth, but I can tell you he made a difference and will keep making a difference. The love and encouragement that his family has been receiving from all over is so powerful.
You can read more about his story and the community involvement here.

Please keep praying for those other little ones.

Have a great day,xoxo!!

Pray about everything

Hey loves...long time, no blog.

I just want to take a moment today and ask that you guys could please say a prayer for a few people...people whom I've never even met.

It just seems that every where I look here lately, there is a little one out there who is in need of some prayers.

Grace upon Grace...

Please say a prayer for a sweet baby boy Bennett and his twin sister Ella Kate, who at 25 weeks were brought into this world.
Ella Kate is doing well, but Bennett is facing some problems and could really use some added prayers.
Also, please say a prayer for the parents...I just could not imagine what they must be going through right now.

1 Corinthians 2:9

Rosalie is a little girl who just lives in the town right next to mine. Rosalie nearly drowned over a month ago and is fighting for her life. Her family set up this facebook page and post daily on it with her status and also they post about other children that are in the hospital with her. One of those children is actually a little boy names Liam Lyon, I started following his facebook page and praying for him after I saw a story about him on the local news.

You can find his facebook page here and learn more about his struggles.

And there are two more little babies that could use our help...baby Aiden and baby Emery.

It just breaks my heart to hear about all these sweet little angels, who from the get go, have had these huge battles to overcome.
They are little fighters that is for sure.

So, if you could just add these loves to your prayers, I'm sure their families would appreciate it.

While you are add it, if you wouldn't mind saying a little prayer for me...I have a few things in my life that I'm hoping will work out...no details right now...but they are good things!!

Thank y'all

Philippians 4:19

Have a happy Monday!!

The weekend

Linking up with my fav girls for a little recap of the weekend, Sami, Dana, and Leeann

This weekend I was in a little thing called My Best Friends Wedding.
That's right, my Bestie got MARRIED.

It was a complete wedding weekend.
Starting with an early 6:30 morning hair and make-up call with Mimosas of course, followed by pictures, wedding, more pictures, reception and the party at the Hard Rock.

More pictures to come...I didn't have a camera, so I have to rely on the professionals for more photos.

The rest of the weekend was spent trying to keep cool.
My air conditioner went out.
Oklahoma 100+ heat and no air conditioning means sitting around in your swimsuit in front of two fans eating ice cream.

Please pray it gets fixed today.

Have a great Monday loves, xoxo!

The second Monday of the week

I may or may not have had a moment yesterday where I realized I have suddenly become an 80 year old woman.
I suddenly became THAT person who calls the cops on her neighborhood kids because they are shooting what I can only think are bombs at 8am on my day off.
I'm all about the fireworks...but I'm not about bombs that sound like I need to break out the heavy artillery to retaliate.
I don't even own small artillery.
*Note to self...get some sort of artillery so you are prepared*

I may not be ready for kids as much as I thought...which may be good considering I'm not even in a relationship or anything.
Yesterday at my friends 4th of July pool party, I laughed hysterically at an 18 month old after he accidentally hit another little girl with a book and proceeded to yell, "Mine"...why I thought this was funny, not really sure.

If there was a movie with Channing Tatum, Matthew McConaughey, Ryan Reynolds and Ryan Gossling...I'd be in Heaven.
Let's make this movie happen Hollywood...preferably a sequel or something to Magic Mike, but with a story line...and more dancing from Channing.

I tried to put on fake eyelashes the other day.
I was unsuccessful
Unless you count cluing your eye lids together a success.

I have a real big hankering for some Fruity Pebbles.
Who say's hankering anymore?
And what 27 year old eats Fruity Pebbles?

Well...I may have rambled to much today...but that's what happens when it's a Monday...err, Thursday...I've been confused all day as to what day it is...which is why holidays should not happen in the middle of the week.

Dreaming of Pinterest

It's Tuesday...also known as the first Friday of this week.
I guess that's the only good thing about having a holiday on a Wednesday, it's like we get TWO Fridays.
and I love Fridays.

I also love Pinterest, so much in fact I had a dream last night that I was in a pinterest competition. You had to have the most boards and you had to be creative with your titles and you had to accomplish items out of at least three of your boards.

It was brutal.
I'm thinking there are two reasons for this Pinterest inspired dream.
1. I watched that new show on TLC hosted by Tori Spelling called Craft Wars
2. I was on Pinterest before bed.

I think when you dream about Pinterest competitions, one should probably lay off the pins for awhile.

I hate how in dreams you always wake up before the ending, like when you dream about getting married, you never know who the husband is and when you dream about a Pinterest competition, you don't know who the winner is.
I'm going with that I won.

I realize I sound crazy dreaming of Pinterest.
It is what it is folks.

Speaking of, I love Ecards...I think they really grasp my thoughts.

HA. wouldn't that be nice ;-P

UMMM...ya, where are ya?!?

I guess I can only say the following one for another month or so...because this will need to change when I turn 28. YIKES!!

this is true.

This has never been truer...
(Is truer a word?)
Ha!

Hope y'all have a safe and fun 4th of July.
