Sometimes, I feel my life is like an episode of "I love Lucy"

So, about the title of my blog today. Let me explain. My washing machine has been giving me trouble lately. Leaking just a little bit of water. So, the handy independent girl that I am, I took matters into my own hands. First, as any independent girl would do. I called my mom. Then I got on top of the washing machine and shined my flashlight on the backside of it to make sure all hoses were hooked up properly and water wasn't leaking any where. Everything looked intact. So far so good. Then I looked underneath the washer and there it was-- the water leak. At this point, I had used up all my resources...I sure as heck didn't know how to fix a water leak from under the washing machine. So, I just put a towel down and washed laundry on a cycle that didn't use much water. Problem solved, right? Apparently not.

Yesterday, I started cleaning house, started a load of laundry...the water ran, everything looked fine. Shut the laundry room door and began cleaning my kitchen. Usually I can hear the washer a slight bit. I heard nothing. Went to the laundry room. It stopped working. I turned the nob to about every function there was and nothing was working. Then, I heard a like pop noise and next thing I know I have water squirting through the top of the washer and a flood of soapy suds coming out from the bottom. I literally have like 2 inches of water just sitting on the floor starting to seep into the hallway and the carpet...I am dropping down towel after towel trying to soak it up, the dogs are coming in trying to lick the soapy water, I am yelling at them, picking up everything so it won't get wet and calling my mom asking her what I do.

Not the nice Sunday afternoon I was looking forward too. Needless to say, I now have no working washer, my clothes are still dirty; therefore I have no work clothes, I have towels hanging up in my garage because they were to drenched to just put in the dryer. Don't you wish your Sunday was like mine?

This reminds of a similar situation I had in college.

Why do these things only happen to me?

When I was in college, my best friend and I were living in an apartment. D had left me a post-it in the bathroom saying that she tried to do the dishes but something was wrong with the dishwasher. Again, being the savvy gal that I am, I thought for sure I could fix it. I look in the dishwasher and notice this tube like structure came loose, I thought that obviously was the problem so I screwed it back on. Proceeded to load the dishwasher and start it. I go on about my merry way doing homework I am sure : ) next thing I know... water literally starts shooting straight up at the ceiling. Like freakin Old Faithful. It doesn't dawn on me to stop the dishwasher or to turn off the water valve...no, I grab big, huge bowls or whatever I can find to catch the water and then pour back into the sink...when clearly this is a never-ending cycle. This went on for about 10 minutes when I realized I am not solving the problem but adding to it. I then turned the water valve off and still do this day, I have no idea what caused it. Doing dishes after that just took on a whole other excitement...you just never knew if it would explode again.

See...my life sometimes can be an episode of I Love Lucy...now I just need my Ricky Ricardo.

Hey, it's ok...

So, I know I said Thursday's were set aside for Nutrition information...but I am changing it up today. I recently picked up a Glamour magazine. I used to read that one and Cosmo all the time. Now, I read Cooking, home decor type mags and Self and Shape...my how things have changed. I am old.

Anyway, my favorite part about that magazine was the Hey, it's ok too....So, I am going to start my own, feel free to do one yourself : )

So, without further adieu

Hey, it's ok...

....to dance around in your living room, listening to Justin Beiber. So what if you now have the fever. Think of it as great exercise.

....to feed your dogs oven-roasted turkey meat and red velvet cupcakes when you run out of dog food and you just got home from work, and really don't want to run to the dreaded Wal-Mart. The meat was all natural and the cupakes were vegan. I am sure it's just fine.

....to keep telling yourself that the reason your dogs are slightly over weight has nothing to do with the fact that you just feed them cupcakes.

...to not make your bed in the morning. Your an adult...if you choose to not make your bed. IT IS your prerogative.

...to use all the hot water, all the bubble bath, finish off that bottle of wine and soak in the tub until you are wrinkled like a prune.

....to facebook stalk and not work. That is what they invented facebook for. Legal stalking.

....to eat an entire box of Girl Scout cookies. They only come out once a year. So what if you are allergic to dairy and after you eat them your in some intense pain for two days...it was totally worth eating those Samoas.

....and because I apparently missed National Margarita day, which was Tuesday...it's ok to declare National I missed Margartia day Saturday...I plan on consuming more than one.

**On an un-related note...if you are the praying kind, I could really use some prayers right now...changes are a happening and I need some strength and guideness to get through it. I would greatly appreciate it : )**

Happy one day away from Friday peeps!!

What I am loving...

I am loving that my friends are having babies. Just yesterday I found out another one of my friends is having a baby. Its a secret though...only her hubby and I know.

I am loving that I am only one of two people that know such a big secret.

I am loving that I now have words with friends on my phone. However, my battery dies a lot sooner now, and I can't go to bed at a decent time because I can't stop playing. Must. Put. Phone.Down!!

I am loving that the Oscars are this Sunday. I love watching it and of course I love the Red Carpet and I love James Franco...so I am pretty excited that he is co-hosting.
I am loving the feeling of a good run. It feels so good to be back in the swing of things.

Oh and I am loving that I only have one more week left of my trashy roots and crazy, out of control eyebrows. I finally will be getting my hair done next week. No blizzard or extreme weather will stand in my way this time. No. Sir.

I am loving this Basset.  This is Bentley Sue. She thinks she is a lap dog. When in reality she is over weight. She also thinks she is a person. See, in the background...she just got done working out...she's smiling, because she's on the fast track to getting slim...haha.

What are you loving Wednesday...go link up with Jamie

Have a FABULOUS day : )

Top 2 Tuesday and I think I may have made a bad bet...

Top 2 things you have learned from your parents or grandparents

1. I have learned a lot from my momma. She is a smart lady. I wouldn't be the person I am today without all the life lessons that she has taught me, so its quite hard to pen point just one thing. If I had to choose, I would say my mom has taught me to be independent. I think it's very important for a girl to be able to do things on her own. Growing up and still to this day, if my mom needs something done...she doesn't wait for my dad to do it for her. She does it all on her own. She works 8 hours a day, goes home and feeds all the animals--growing up, we would have anywhere from horses, cows, chickens, goats, dogs, you name it we probably had it--cleans house, cooks dinner and so on. She has taught me the value of hard work and being able to succeed all on your own and not having to rely on anyone. I pride myself in being able to provide myself with a roof over my head, food on the table, etc. Also, I can fix my own washer and mow my own yard and do whatever. Thank you, Mom for showing me how to be a "big girl". I love you!

2. Like I've said before...my Nana and Papa are two of my favorite people. I love them dearly. I have learned from them what true love is. Yes, my Nana and Papa may have their arguments...what married couple doesn't? Especially if you have been married for 51 years...or is it 52, I don't know. My point is. They have loved each other through the good times and the bad, through sickness and health, through richer or poor. They are truly living their wedding vows. I am sure their love story hasn't always been rainbows and butterflies...its been hard work, sweat and tears. They got through it though, because of their love. I see how good they are too each other. I don't want a love story like Johnny and June...I want a love story like Linda and Larry...aka Nana and Papa.

Now on to that bad bet I may have made. You see, I have the most adorable baby brother. I have mentioned him before. But here he is again...I mean, really its hard to say no to those dimples.
He is quite the little stud. But enough about how adorably cute he is. Lets talk about how sometimes this adorably cute boy can be a huge pain in my ass. Its understandable...I think its like a qualification of little brothers to be pains in the asses. Anyway, little brother loves to give me a hard time. Always messing with me. I may be slightly gullible, so the boy knows how to work it and knows what gets me going. Ooh...he's good at what he does. He has had almost 18 years experience with it.

His latest against me is somewhat sincere. See, for some reason he wants so badly to put be on a dating website. One, I think he knows how badly it annoys me and how much I DO NOT want to do online dating. I don't think its come down to that just yet. At least not for me. I swear, every time he sees a commercial about it, he threatens me that he signed me up. I always fall for it. Two, I think he truly wants me to find someone and get married, and he wants to insure that he has a cool brother-in-law that he can hunt and fish with and things like that.

Well, Friday night after the Hunting and fishing show, we make a bet ( don't ask me why I did this) that I have to be in a relationship by the time he graduates. I immediately yell "College" but not so much...its high school. Which is in like less than three months btw. If I do not have a boyfriend by his graduation, than he is going to sign me up on a dating website. Oh Lord, please help me.

So, looks like I need to get busy. Good thing I have my new make-up, I am going to need to be looking good, seeing how I need to find a man by May. Ladies, if you have any single friends, brothers, cousins, who ever in the neighborhood of NE Oklahoma...I need help. Now, he didn't specify how long of a relationship...so I am thinking as long as I have gone on like a date or two...I should be good, right??

I really don't want to end up on a dating website under the control of my 18 year old brother. Why didn't I just bet like money or something??

Happy Monday Morning

I believe spring has sprung...or at least it did for a couple of days. This weekend was beautiful here in NE OK. Gorgeous spring like weather. I was definitely starting to get the fever...Bieber fever. Oh, wait..wrong fever. Spring Fever! The weather was so nice, I turned off my heat and opened my windows. I love letting the fresh spring like air in. I read somewhere that last Thursday, we had a 100 degree difference in temps. How does that even happen? I guess when you go from -27 to 77 degrees it makes it a possibility. Needless to say, I enjoyed breathing in the nice, brisk air, and wearing short sleeve shirts.

I had originally planned on building my raised garden beds this weekend, since the weather was so nice. I even had one of my guy friends give me a power drill, some L-Shape things that you need to cut wood, and some wood screws. I was prepared. All but the wood itself. Do you people know how expensive wood is? Lets put it this way, I needed to buy some make-up and my make-up ain't cheap. So, long story short. Lumberr was not purchased this weekend. And no raised garden beds were made. I did however purchase these lovely items:

Mac Studio fix in NW20 ( because I am pale)

Two Faced Glamour Gloss in Barely Legal
Nars Blush in Orgasm
Soft Lights in Shimmer for that movie star glow....love it!!
It's really all about priorities people. Make-up or lumber, Feel pretty now or Fresh veggies later, what can I say?? I want to feel pretty. I am a girl.

My mom also got some new make-up, so what do us girls do on a Saturday night. You would think, a single girl like me should be out on the town meeting guys. Nope. We went to Wal-Mart sporting our new make-up. Nothing says a night on the town like Wal-Mart on a Sat. night.

How boring am I?? Help...I need a social life.

Did I mentioned my Friday night was spent at a Hunting and Fishing Tackle show. I went by choice. I like those things. I went with my mom and little brother. I brought home an OSU coffee mug and a jar of pickles.

About that social life??

Fabulous Friday

I got a pocket, got a pocketful of sunshine
I got a love and I know that its all mine
oh,oh,oh,oh

Do what you want, but you're never gonna break me.
Sticks and stones are never gonna shake me.
No.

Oh, sorry...did you not want me to sing to you on this beautiful, FRIDAY morning? Blame it on the sunshine and the spring like weather that is upon us. Yesterday was B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L here in Oklahoma, I have been driving with the sunroof open, windows down...blaring my new Valentine Mix CD from Miss Football...which so happens to have "Pocket full of sunshine" on it.

I have nothing important to say today...but do I ever really have anything important to say. We could talk about the conflict in Egypt? or the Stock market? Who am I kidding...I am boring myself just with the thought of talking about it. Besides, I would have nothing to offer to that conversation...unless you wanted to know the latest celeb who is pregnant...Jessica Alba btw, or whats going on with the latest of the Real Housewives. If there was a pop culture week on Jeopardy, I would seriously be the next Ken Jennings. Seriously.

I plan on building something this weekend. Yes. Building. With like real power tools and everything. See, I may come across as a girly girl (those who know me best, can attest to this) but I have my own tools...they may be pink, but there still tools. I do things on my own. I put together my elliptical, it may squeak sometimes...but that's just manufacturing--nothing to do with the person who built it, I fixed my washer when it leaked and I duct-taped my dryer vent thingy back together. Who needs a guy, when you are this handy?

I needed a hobby. So, I decided to take up gardening. I am going to make myself some raised garden beds this weekend, just like how The Pioneer Woman did. I love fresh, right out of the garden veggies...so, I thought. "Why can't I grow them?" So...I totally am.  Of course, I will be documenting my journey as a first time Gardener...hopefully I will have some great crops. We shall see how this goes...any and all gardening tips are more than welcome and appreciated.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Friday and a great weekend!!

I need an intervention

I know normally Thursdays are set aside for nutrition and healthy goodness, but I haven't been very healthy this week nor have I had the "want to".  I know I need to but I would rather go home after work and catch up on my dvr. Lazy? Yes. Is this a good thing? NO.

Yes, I know everyone needs to have those days where they can just be lazy in some comfy clothes, veg out and watch tv and not work out for a couple of days. Well...I had about two weeks of those days due to the blizzard and I CAN'T GET OUT OF IT. I need help! Like, super bad help. Like Jillian Micheal's coming to my house and yelling at me to get my lazy, fat, cellulite ass off the couch, out of bed and into the gym. THAT kind of help. Yes, I said cellulite. Everyone has it. Movie stars have it. Freakin Queen of England to be probably has it. ( I mean...I hope people have it other than me) I would like to deny that I have it. But, its there. And now, I have proclaimed it to the world.

Why is it sooo difficult to get back into a routine after just a week or so set back? This has happened to me time and time again. I would be doing great, working out everyday, eating well. Then boom. I get like the plague and I am out for a month, then I go on vacation or something, and excuses keep coming and before you know it six months have passed  along with about a billion dozen boxes of cookies that have been eaten before I even went back to the gym. Please, tell me this happens to other people??

Well, I am determined to not let this be the case again. I have to get my jiggly, cellulite ass, chicken winged arms back into the gym. Jillian Micheal's or not. I need to do a million squats and lunges and get in bikini shape. I have to, I have to, I have to!!

I love to work out...I love the feeling after a good work out. I just need to get back into it.

"Exercise gives your endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don't shoot their husbands, they just don't." Quick...name that movie??

So, with this little proclamation. I decided I am going to do the whole 30 days of Jillian Micheal's 30 day Shred...lets see if she really knows what she is talking about. I have done it before...but not for a month straight. I will be doing this along with my normal gym routine.

If your wondering why I went on m little tangent about this. 1. I have my follow-up doctors appointment today about my dairy allergy. I thought I would have lost a few lbs...you know not having dairy and all. I haven't lost anything. In fact, I gained 2 lbs. I blame the damn blizzard and me getting snowed in with oreos. 2. I needed to post this to the world, so I will hold myself accountable and actually stick to something.

What I'm Loving Wednesday

I am loving that the sun is out and its been over 50 degrees this week and the piles and piles of snow are melting. Almost no memory of that blizzard...oh wait, except my electric and gas bill. That's one hell of a reminder.

I am loving the wonderfully nice people next door at Immedite Care for not stiching up but gluing the tip of my finger back on, after I sliced it open with a knife. Note to self. All knives must be put up in the knife rack and not hanging out loosely in the drawer.

I am loving this song by Steel Magnolia
Its the perfect girl power song and I love it!!

I am loving that my Alma Mater, Oklahoma State, Football coach Mike Gundy is Justin Bieber's ringtone

Follow up video of Coach Mike Gundy...he's got Bieber Fever...love it!!

I am loving these two people my mom and baby brother

and on a good day I am loving this old, stubborn cowboy also known as my dad

Most of all I am loving my lovely followers. You guys are awesome!

Dinner and Dessert for a Valentine's Day Girls Weekend

I put on my best Chefs/bakers hat this last weekend and whipped up a home cooked meal for my lovelies...Miss Football and Bestie. I had originally planned on making PW's fettucini Alfredo, but that went out the window when the non-dairy business showed up. Stupid non-dairy. So, with that I decided to make my favorite pasta dish from the Olive Garden, Capellini Pomodero-a light and healthy pasta. Now, for some reason the grocery store was out of fresh basil...so I had to improvise and kinda just threw in a bunch of stuff that I had in my spice rack. I also used whole wheat linguini instead of Angle hair pasta. My version probably wasn't quite like Olive Gardens. Here is the recipe for the Olive Garden version.
Photo courtsey of Miss Football, editing courtsey of picnik and myself.

Olive Garden's Capellini Pomdero

Cook Time: 12 minutes

Total Time: 12 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cans (14.5 ounces each) good quality diced tomatoes, or about 2 pounds fresh peeled and diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 cups fresh chopped basil leaves
  • 1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 12 ounces dry angel hair pasta, cooked

Preparation:

Heat olive oil and add garlic; cook until garlic is tender. Add tomatoes and pepper and heat through, stirring constantly, about 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from heat. Transfer hot, cooked pasta to large bowl. Toss pasta gently with tomato mixture, the fresh chopped basil, and half of the Parmesan cheese. Serve immediately and pass remaining Parmesan.
Serves 4.

Super duper easy.

Now for dessert, I made some yummy Vegan Red Velvet Cupcakes in honor of Valentines Day. My mom makes these all the time and they are seriously delicious. So moist, best Red Velvet I have ever had

Dinner, drinks, hockey and an episode of My Redneck Wedding?

Good Monday Morning dolls and Happy Valentines Day!!

For the first time, in what seems like an eternity I drove my car this weekend. Its like turning 16 yrs. old all over again and finally getting to drive. Snow is finally melting due to our awesome 60 degree weather...can you believe -27 one day, 40 inches of snow and now week long temps of 60s and 70s...that's Oklahoma for you..but I am not complaining. I am for sure enjoying this spring like weather after that crazy blizzard. I am finally getting my routine back, and it feels good. Not so good..the soreness in my back from shoveling snow and from starting all over on my work out routine. Hopefully no more blizzards to get me out of my routine...Summer is fast approaching peeps gotta get that body in tip-top shape!

This weekend went by way tooo fast for me. Miss Football flew in for the weekend and her, bestie and I had a great weekend of catching up, laughing, dinner, lots of wine and cocktails and a hockey game. The only one missing, was honey. I so badly wish we could all four live in the same city much less same state again. Its probably for the best though, college is over and we are too old to be acting like that every weekend...haha...at least I know I am : )

We started off Friday night, with me cooking dinner and dessert and having a girls night in. It was a great time of just catching up, enjoying a yummy dinner-if I do say so myself-wine, cocktails and lounging around. Isn't it funny how much fun you can have just lounging around talking about nothing in particular, reminiscing about the good ol college days and laughing all night long...I miss that. I made my version of Olive Garden's Capellini Pomodero and for dessert Red Velvet Vegan Cupcakes. I will post recipes later.

Saturday night we had plans for shoe shopping, dinner and a hockey game. Needless to say our evening didn't go quite as expected. Shoe shopping didn't happened, as we got there...they were closing. We had dinner at a great place on Brookside called Cosmos. Awesome atmosphere, amazing cocktails and yummy delicious food and dessert. It was a great evening. Perfect Valentines day dinner...who needs a guy, when you have best friends like these, right?

On to the hockey game, Bestie is great and got us the hook-up with some club seats to the hockey game, we get there and are trying to get in, but our tickets aren't scanning. We had Friday nights game tickets...not Saturday nights. Oops. Oh well, all is not lost, we managed to still get into the game and in our great seats...just in time for...get ready for it. A wedding. At a hockey game. Not like an NHL hockey game. A minor league(or whatever its called) hockey game. I had to look around and make sure Redneck wedding wasn't filming, maybe they were...look for me in the audience, I will be the one with my jaw on the floor. Who gets married at a hockey game? Who also has your bridal party be the wanna be "dancers" of the hockey team, wearing tube tops, and spandex pants. Oh, and the best man...the hockey teams mascot. Seriously? Who, after they get engaged and start planning the best day of their lives says, " I want to get married at a no name hockey game and have the "dancers" be my bridal party and my dress to look like I have a WWE belt with Oilers written on it." Who does that?? It was crazy.  They also walked out under some hockey sticks. Now, I am very happy for them that they found love and someone just as willing to get married at a hockey game. I am just saying, you will never find me getting married at a hockey game. Congrats to them!

In more hockey news, the game was awesome. Now, I know nothing about hockey. Just what I know from The Mighty Ducks. Miss Football kept yelling things like, "Do the flying V!" and football terms. I was just trying to stay with the flying puck that goes everywhere. Word of advise to the God's of Hockey...can you make the puck like neon pink, so its easier to find? Just a suggestion. Best part of the game, was the fight. Isn't that why you go to a hockey game in the first place? This fight was seriously hardcore, a good 5 minute or so fight. Jabs, Hooks, Crosses, Undercuts, I do kickboxing...I know the terms. Helmets flying, sticks flying, awesome fight. We even went into overtime and the Oilers ended up winning 4-3. Perfect ending to a perfect Valentines Day weekend with the bff's.

Hope everyone's weekend was wonderful and you got to enjoy the great weather. Happy day of love everyone!!

TGIF

It's Friday Folks...woohoo!! Even though I only worked 4 days this week...they were some long 4 days. I will just be so glad when this weather gets back to normal...well, normal as it can get for Oklahoma. I am just so ready to get back into my routine. With all the snow days last week, and the one this week...I have fallen out so easily. I have been staying up late watching episodes of Criminal Minds-love that show, but not good for a gal to watch right before she goes to bed. Talk about paranoia. Every time I hear a noise, I assume a serial killer is breaking in. Thank goodness I have my trusty basett hound to guard me. Not having to get up for work, I have been sleeping in. So, having to wake up at six is not as easy as it used to be. I need normalcy back in my life.

Good news is, Miss Football is flying in today, yay!!! Can't wait to have some quality girls weekend fun! I am cooking dinner tonight at my house, bestie is joining us. So, a little girls night in. Saturday, Miss Football is making a special trip to Stilly for a certain one year olds bday, then its off to shoe shopping and a hockey game for us girls. Shoe shopping and hockey...you don't really see that in a sentence too often,ha.

Even better news this is our forecast for the next 7 days
7Day Forecast
Notice the 60 degree temps for the middle of the week...Hells to the yeah!!

Oh and even better, better news...It's finally happening...and I couldn't be more excited. The infamous Words with Friends app is going to be avialable for Android phones at the end of this month!! I have never been more excited. I can finally play another addictive game besides angry birds.

Happy Friday everyone!

Rant

Sometimes a girl just needs to let out a little steam. I think being cooped up and snowed in for over a week and seeing nothing but white powder outside has got me on edge that an people are really pissing me off today. My besties and I do these "Rant" emails to each other whenever one of us just needs to get something off our chest...I realized I have a blog now...I can rant on my blog...so here goes it, feel free to rant along with me. You know you want to.

1. People keep cancelling on me today. If I made it to work in the -27 degree temps and the 40 plus inches of snow on the ground...than so can you.
2. If I called you 300 hundred times and left you voice mails...do not say that I never called you and left you a voicemail, because I did. You big, fat, dumb liar. You know where liar's go, don't you??
3. I realize that my lips are chapped. I don't need a perfect stranger to come up to me and tell me they are chapped. One-that's rude Two- Would you like me to remind you that you are bald? Three-Its a freakin blizzard outside, sometimes chapped lips happen.
4. Its -27 degrees, I did not sign up to live in the Freakin North Pole. Next winter, I am flying South. Forget this business.
5. Why can't I find a cute duvet cover?? Everything I find that is cute, is a plain ol comforter. I don't want a plain ol comforter...I want a cute duvet cover. I love my down comforter and I want to keep it. I just want my bedroom to be cute.
6.Plain hamburgers just aren't the same. I want to eat a cheeseburger dammit! Milk Allergies can suck it.

Aww...I feel so much better : )

Nutrition Thursday

I apologize for this boring yet educational post today. I have decided to dedicate Thursday to all things nutrition. Since my parents spent all that money on getting me an education in Nutrition...why not share what I know, or claim to know, ha!

You may or may not know, but the USDA just released the 2010 edition of the Dietary Guidelines. I am not going to go in to too much detail. If your interested in reading the full release go here

Basically, in a nut shell the powers that be who decide the guidelines, realized our country is obese. You think? More than one-third of children and more than two-thirds of adults are considered overweight or obese. How sad are these statistics? For this reason, the USDA is focusing more on decreasing your number of calorie consumption and increasing physical activity. All I can say is...duh. Hasn't this whole mentality of eat less work out more been around for quite sometime? Maybe now that it is "official" people will actually get the memo. Lets hope.

If you go to the USDA website it will have a whole booklet that you can download and it will tell you what foods you should limit and what foods you should increase. The sodium intake did decrease from 2500mg to 2300mg. I know, I personally try to limit my sodium intake..who wants to fill all bloated and puffy anyway...so not attractive. If you follow a fairly healthy diet in the first place, then you are pretty much golden in terms of the new Dietary guidelines.
For example, if you consume more fruits and veggies, including a variety of veggies...like dark greens, red and orange colors ( basically colors of the rainbow as I like to say), choose whole grains over white and starchy, go for low-fat milk products, cheese's that are lower in fat and cholesterol or for us non-dairy peeps...soy milk (its actually not half bad), eat more proteins, like lean meat and chicken/turkey, eggs, legumes, nuts, soy, incorporate a little salmon or tuna for some Omega 3's and choose the good oils like olive oil, and incorporate more fiber in your diet...than you are set and on your way to a healthy lifestyle.

In other healthy news...did you know that February is American Heart month, go here to learn more about it.

90% of women have one or more risk factors for developing heart disease. If you are following the above diet guidelines above, than you are already taking one step in decreasing those odds.

Well, there you have it. I told you it would be quite boring. Next time, after the snow goes away and I can buy regular groceries and cook again...I will have some yummy nutritious recipes.

What I'm Loving Wednesday

I'm loving my new blog layout by Lauren at Blu Lux Studio. Lauren is so talented and so great to work with. I was so over the place with my ideas and she was so patient with me and my indecivness. Check out her site, she has done some amazing work including Miss Footballs blog

I'm loving that it is 131 days until Summer!!! Yes, I started a count down. I believe that if you are hit with an abundance of snow in one day and it is still on the ground right now, you have every right to count down until summer. That's 131 days until I get to be on the lake perfecting my tan and getting up on the wake board before my brother...which probably won't happen...but a girl can dream, right??
I'm picturing myself here with a margarita in my hand...aww, that would be the life

I'm loving that I have 131 days to get in great bikini shape...

I'm loving these swimsuits from VS...now if that isn't motivation...I don't know what is, probably shouldn't have eaten a whole chocolate sheet cake while snowed in...oops : )

I'm loving my mini boom box for my ipod, that my bubs got me for Christmas. It so cute and pink and little, that I just move it from room to room at my house. It reminds me of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air or really any 90s rapper that would carry those huge boom box on their shoulder. Not that I do that or anything : )

I'm loving that I just said out loud the whole theme song to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air...come on you know you did it too..."Now this is a story all about how my life got flipped-turned upside down and I liked to take a minute so just sit right there, and I'll tell you how I became the prince of a town called Bel-Air"

They just don't make shows like that anymore

I'm loving Miss Football's blogs about photography. She is doing a couple of photography challenges and can I say that she is doing an AMAZING job. She makes me want to start something like this...plus the fact we both have the same camera and she is taking beautiful pictures makes me think I could do it too. We don't need no fancy cameras...well, it would be nice. So, check out Miss Football here you won't be disappointed. I promise.

I'm loving that there is an All-Star Amazing race staring on Feb. 20 and that my favorite pair...who just so happen to be from Oklahoma are coming back. Jet and Cord McCoy...they got 2nd place last time, lets hope they can take home the win.
amazing race season 18 episode 01

Have a fabulous hump day everyone!!

Peace out!
