That one time I went to Vegas

The other day I was going through some old photos of the days back in my prime...aka, college...and I came across my VEGAS pictures.

It was atually about this time five years ago, when we went to Vegas.
What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, right??

Anyway, it was my very last semester in college...as in graduating that December and so when the opportunity to go to Vegas presented itself, I said Hell to the Yes and asked my bestie, Honey, to go along. The nickname honey actually originated from our trip in Sin City.

Since it is Oklahoma and the weather is very unpredictable...hello earthquakes...I was very worried and freaked out ( if you know me in real life you know how freaked out I get about things) about even getting to Vegas. We had a freaking blizzard a few days before we were to take off. Did I mention we were flying at the first of December and coming back just days before we took our last finals in college ever?

Ya, probably not the best idea ever in the world to go to a place deemed Sin City right before you take your last exams to graduate college.

It worked out though, both of us passed and graduated.

Thankfully with the help of a friend who kindly and graciously drove us to the airport(actually I had to beg and plead with him) we were able to fly out.

One thing I noticed about going to Vegas and coming back from Vegas is that on the way there, everyone and I mean everyone is happy and having a good time and the drinks are a coming...now on the way back. You would have thought we were all dead. Every single one of us. No one said anything to anyone. Let's just say that I personally, slept the whole way home with the shade pulled down and sunglasses on.

Let's get down to business...so, first night out on the town just a couple of innocent 21 and 22 year olds...and btw yes, I got the "over did it with the make-up memo" it was Vegas after all, I was trying to fit in with the showgirls? Idk.

We went out with two very cute guys(who both attended OSU and were friends with our friend) who just happened to pick us up from the airport...see we were meeting up with our friend who was already there working at Cowboy Christmas, which is a huge trade show that goes on during the National Finals Rodeo in Vegas. Think Superbowl of Rodeos...also, think lots and lots and lots of Cowboys.

May or may not be the reason we chose to go during that time.

One of the boys just happened to look like Nick Lachey. I have always liked Nick Lachey...do you see this being a problem??

They took us to the club, Tao, at the Venetian..it was VIP treatment all the way. I remember at one part of the night, honey, somehow managed to grab a bottle of champagne from another table...then I remember dancing to snow falling from the ceiling.

The next day I remember getting a phone call from my dad, asking me if I was still alive from my first night in Vegas...and he asked me if I knew what time it was. I distinctively remember telling him..."There are no clocks in Vegas!"

The next day was spent sightseeing and shopping. Since we were in Vegas at Christmas time, the entire Bellagio lobby was decorated and everything was made out of real things. Like, reindeer's made of almonds, polar bears made from carnations...probably one of the most interesting, beautiful displays I have ever seen.

Of course we visited the M&M factory

And Coca-Cola

We visited the Eiffel Tower at the Paris Hotel...so pretty...hope to see the real thing someday

View from the top of the Eiffel Tower

Water-light show at the Bellagio seen from atop of the Eiffel Tower

Margartiville

Pink Christmas tree...my favorite

Most nights in Vegas were spent pre-gaming or sometimes just staying the whole night at our hotel bar with our favorite bartender John. He made the best Jolly Rancher drink..I even wrote it down...it's not legible of course...too many Jolly Rancher's I guess.

I even took one for the team...I had somewhat of 3 day relationship with one of the guys who picked us up from the airport...you know Nick Lachey look alike...see he was a sous chef in Emeril Lagasse's restaurant. Hence how we were able to eat one of the best meals I have ever eaten in my life...six course dinner seated inside a room that viewed the entire kitchen....for FREE!

One night we were just hanging out in the hotel lobby at the Bellagio and we met Big and Rich...the ones who sing, "Save a horse ride a cowboy" and Chad Kroger from Nickleback. Of course I didn't have a camera.

We did however see John Wayne at the airport

and Elvis

All in all it was a great time. I can't tell you everything  that happened...because after all...what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.

I just got back from Vegas from Cowboy Christmas and the rodeo! So much fun and so many things that should never leave Vegas. We drove from NM out there and drove through two of the worst storms ever! Isn't Vegas a blast?!?!

Love it. So jealous I didn't get invited on this trip! The picture of you trying to drink but laughing so hard is seriously my favorite!

I went to the NFR a few years ago, and I can't wait to go back sometime. Right now we are working on planning my bachelorette party in Vegas. It is an awesome town.

OMG I will never forget the call I got from you pretty ladies around oh 3 am or so :) Also, the look on both of your faces when I picked you up from the airport after your weekend of fun was priceless and looked pretty painful :)

You remember sooooo much more about that trip than I do. It's a blur. I remember being completely drunk at our dinner in Emeril's restaurant. And walking around with my parents (probably a good thing that I wasn't completely trashed for that part of the trip). And getting the shakes as my blood alcohol content reached a normal level the week following our trip.

Good times, darling. xoxo
