Girl Power songs

Hey y'all....what's happening??

I feel like everyday this week is like the movie Groundhog. Or everyday is Monday.

Damn Daylight savings time wrecking with my mojo.

I updated my running playlist over the weekend and added Kelly Clarkson's new song, "Stronger"...if y'all are looking for an awesome song to run to or just to rock out to, this is THE song.

LOVE the lyrics...especially this line, "Doesn't mean I am lonely when I'm alone"

Perfect line.

Break-up or no break-up....or just for the single gal like me, who may be alone...but I am certainly am not lonely.

Thank you Miss Clarkson for putting that in your song!

Now another song that I absolutely love that I have had in my itunes for awhile but didn't have in my running playlist is, Steel Magnolias, "Bullet Proof"

Talk about a song that makes you feel like you can do anything, it's for sure a kick ass and take names kind of song.

I love songs like that, I know they center around about being on your own after a break-up...but I think both of these songs are just all around good GIRL POWER songs.

For your listening pleasure...

This and That

Hello lovelies!

It's Monday...and my mind and body are still in my warm comfy bed...so, this post is all sorts of random.

Sometimes I feel like I am a bad doggy mom. I mean, I am gone for a good 8 or more hours Monday through Friday...just like most people, and when I get home, I get so caught up in eating dinner and doing other things that I feel like I neglect my dog babies. I am sure this feeling will be 100 times worse when I have kids...so I should work on this.

This weekend, I vowed to spend more time with my doggies and made sure to play with them. I even gave them baths. Have you ever given a basset hound a bath?

It's not easy.

Here are my cute little clean fur babies...

I saw this the other day and it couldn't be more true

I love it

I just love those two dogs!

I have been a MAJOR slacker on working out. I was sick a couple of weeks ago and was out for like a week straight and couldn't work out. Well, I don't know about y'all but being sick and getting out of your work out routine sucks. It's SO hard to to get back into one.

But no excuses anymore, because I have like 80 something days until my trip and I want to look good in the swimsuit pictures.

Operation get your butt in gear for Costa Rica

All my fitness ladies...what does a girl need to do to get in shape FAST. Like 80 something days fast. I need to drop some lbs and tone up. I got the diet down...but it's the fitness part. More cardio and strength training? What are some great ab exercises?

Help a sister out!

xoxo

My weekend in a nutshell

Why can't work weeks be two days and the weekend be five days??

I had a fairly chill weekend...for a person who says she never does anything sure has been busy on the weekends for the month of January.

Quite the social butterfly I am....Friday night my mom and went out with some of her friends...then Saturday we got our hair did...I got my blonde highlights put back in...all this warm weather we have been having makes me SO ready for Spring/Summer.

In fact, I almost bought this swimsuit at Target yesterday, but opted to just wait a little bit longer. Thought maybe If I bought it and hung it up it would be great motivation.

Xhilaration® Juniors 2-Piece Push Up Bikini Swimsuit - Teal.Opens in a new window.

Saturday night I went out with my friend Katie to celebrate her new job...

Sunday I went and watched Beauty and the Beast in 3D...well, it was supposed to be in 3D...they didn't give us any glasses and said that showing wasn't in 3D...I would be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed. I am a sucker for Disney movies and Beauty and the Beast was one of my favorite ones...it's funny how you look at the movie differently and notice different things as an adult then you did as a child. I went and saw the movie with my good friend/boss and her three year old little girl, who is so adorable and I love her dearly...

Even more exciting than watching Beauty and the Beast...I learned that Finding Nemo is coming out in 3D...LOVE that movie.

Yes, I am five years old.

Sunday evening was rounded out with a great ass kicking in my first spin class in like five years!! My friend, who has never gone to a spin class before, and I went and we had a great work out...I'd be lying if I said my butt didn't hurt today...but hey...no pain no gain...I have to be able to look good in that swimsuit.

That's it for today ladies...hope everyone has a great day!

Slacker...that would be me.

So, I have been majorly slacking on any and all of my New Year's resolutions...I mean I just now feel like I am finally back in the groove of things and it's Thursday...five days into the new year.

Which reminds me that January 5 is my uncle's b-day...I should send him a card.

Moving on

I feel like Jillian Michael's is stalking me. I mean, she's haunting me in my dreams. I dreamt of her last night and how she was yelling at me to get my fat ass out of bed and to drop and give her twenty. I can't even do twenty push-ups..I mean I can, but I have to do them the girly way.

She is bombarding my email. She is all over it. Her and self magazine advertising for the Jump Start 2012 diet and exercise plan.

I wake up in the morning and go to turn on the TV and there sits my Jillian Michael's DVD collection.

Pinned Image

OK...OK...I get it, Jillian.

I will freakin' start to work out.

Geez...you don't have to be so mean about it.

Pinned Image

Next, I am going to have a dream about Martha Stewart wanting me to get all organized and start putting my pinterst finds to good use or something like that.

Just a little nutrition

Alright ladies...so I know that myself and a few fellow bloggers are working our butts off (literally) trying to get rockin' pinterest's bodies...some of y'all already have them...you lucky ladies you.

Pinned Image

Motivation at it's finest.

Anyway, I thought I would use my background in nutrition for good and not evil and just talk about some good foods to include in our daily diet that are full of the good stuff...you know all that vitamin and mineral jazz.

I personally am a big fan of almonds. Love them. I try to have them within my grasp at all times while working...I always get hungry about 10 and 3, and almonds are great for those blood sugar lows in between meals.

12 Foods for a Flat Belly

Almonds are full of calcium and magnesium, which are good for building strong bones...which is especially good if you are being really active, they help build muscle and reduce cravings.

Legumes/beans

12 Foods for a Flat Belly

Legumes and beans are packed full of protein, which is a good source if you are strength training and trying to gain muscle. They help in the building of muscle, burning of fat and they aid in regulating digestion. Which is a dang good thing.

Soy beans...also known as edamame is a great source of protein and a really good snack. I love love edamame. I buy the frozen kind, put a cup or so in my little steam pot thingy and stick in the microwave for a few minutes and sprinkle some sea salt and mmm--good. One cup has about 17g of protein.

Let's talk salads...more importantly let's talk spinach leaves. I love spinach leaves. I rarely eat a salad that isn't made up of spinach leaves...I mean if you get a salad with iceberg lettuce you are getting no nutritional value whatsoever. Spinach leaves are chalk full of iron and fiber, vitamins A and C and it helps neutralize free radicals.
12 Foods for a Flat Belly

* Free radicals are very bad girls, they are what speeds up the aging process, and we don't want wrinkly skin...spinach leaves helps to stop that*

I notice that a lot of people tend to take fat out of their diet especially when they are trying to lose weight. Yes, taking the "bad" fats such as starchy, sugary, trans fatty foods out of your diet is a good thing. But you should leave the "good" fats such as monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats in your diet. Examples of good fats are:

Olive oil will help lower your cholesterol and boosts your immune system. I pretty much only cook with olive oil.

Avocados...I love love love avocados. They provide at least 20 essential nutrients such as potassium, fiber, Vitamin E(is great with anti-aging), Vitamin B and Folic acid.

Other things that are really good to incorporate are just whole grains, no starchy or white breads, lots of fruits and veggies...can never have enough of those things. And water. Yes, water is so simple, and you would be surprised how many people simply do not get enough during the day. I have a 32 oz water bottle(pink of course) that I have with me everyday and I try to drink at least two full jugs, here lately though especially with working out I have been trying to drink three jugs.

Alright, well...that is my two cents on some good quality foods that I add to my diet, just thought I would share with the rest of y'all, What are some good healthy snacks or meals that you guys eat. I would love to know!

Little bit of this and that

Hey girls!

The weekends just are never long enough, are they? I sooo did not want to get out of bed this morning.

I don't really have a lot of interesting or entertaining things to say today, because I lead a rather boring life. This weekend I did a whole lotta nothing. I ran, did some arms/legs....every time I want to stop doing those damn lunges and squats, I must remember one thing err two things...

Carrie Underwood legs. It's my new mantra...Carrie's legs.

I also did a killer ab work out, and when I say killer I mean, it hurts to laugh, to move, to do anything really involving my abs. I did this video...let's hope I get a six-pack in six weeks...as much as my abs hurt today, I might not be able to do another crunch again.

Let's talk football, shall we. My boys, are just kicking ass and taking names. I am always proud to be an Alum of Oklahoma State University, but OM double G, I have never been more proud of my boys than I am right now. Yes, they are doing extremely well and playing some mad football. We did roll over those Raiders this weekend 66-6 and this makes us 10-0. We have never in the history of OSU football been 10-0 and we are ranked #2 in the nation. NUMBER 2!!

And this week Brandon Weeden (our QB) is in the lead for the Heisman. Un-freaking-believable.

photo -

I don't know what is more unbelievable, OSU being ranked #2 or me knowing this much about football.

Ok, well...that's all for now ladies..I have to run because these guys in my clinic or talking football and I need to go offer my two cents.

Miss Football, you should be proud!

GO POKES!!!!

Real hero's don't wear capes...they wear dog tags

First and foremost, I wouldn't even be able to post a blog if it wasn't for our men and women who fight for our freedom everyday.

Thank you to all Veterans, past and present, who risk their lives day in and day out for my family, myself and others.

YOU are the real heros

"Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13

In other news it's FRIDAY...WOO to the HOO!!

and...it's 11-11-11. If I was engaged...haha, I don't even have a boyfriend, I would so want to get married on a fun day like today, I knew several and when I say several, I mean more like a 100 people who got married on 7-7-7. I had so many wedding invitations they took up the whole front of my fridge. Needless to say,I am no superwomen so I didn't attend them all.
Maybe my luck will turn around, I mean...wouldn't you think 11-11-11 is a lucky day, and just maybe I will meet my future husband today and  then we can get married on 10-11-12.

A girl can dream,right?

In less than seven weeks, I, along with Miss Football...will be hitting the slops over NYE...so EXCITED! Part of the reason I started a killer diet/exercise routine is to get in shape for the slopes. I don't want to fall down a mountain. Today, I came across an article from Shape magazine about exercises you need to do to get ready for some ski slope action.

So, Miss Football...listen up. You need to be doing these too...

  • If your gym has a BOSU, try using it for some very effective exercises: balance on one foot on the top of the BOSU while doing bicep curls, or start with both feet on the floor and alternate toe taps in quick succession, aiming for the top point of the BOSU.

  • All of these balance ball exercises are a great way to challenge yourself. My favorite is the Balance Challenge; it's an easy way to take notice of your progress, and it's fun to have a friendly competition with a gym buddy about who can stay on the longest.

  • Take a few minutes every day while you're brushing your teeth or watching TV to stand on one foot, with your other foot raised just barely above the ground. Sounds easy, but if you haven't been maintaining your balance it can be hard! Once you've mastered that, add some arm circles into the mix, and close your eyes.

  • Invest in a balance board. If you're serious about your balance, keep one of these around and pull it out when you have a few minutes for an effective lower-body muscle strengthening and balancing session.

  • Up your Pilate's or yoga routine. Yoga poses and Pilate's exercises are great for working on your balance and strengthening your core. We like the leg pull back from Pilate's mat class and the Warrior 3 pose.

  • Hope these are useful, I will be implementing them into my normal routine. Anyone else going snow skiing over the holidays, maybe we will be at the same place??

    Have a great Friday loves!

    I'm loving today

    Happy Wednesday!!

It's time for a little What I'm loving today

I am having sort of a love/hate relationship with Jillian Michael's. I did her latest workout video for all things lower body. Killer buns and thighs is what it's called. Let me tell you...it works! I can hardly move any muscle of my lower half today. SO SORE!! But I like it, because it's a good score and I know I will have an ass you can bounce a dime off in no time..I mean, let's hope so anyway.

I'm loving that the CMA's are on tonight. LOVE me some country music. Can't wait to see all the dresses, who wins what, the performances and I love that Brad and Carrie host the show...they work so well together and are hilarious.

Of course I am rooting for some fellow Okies and hope they win big time tonight. Go Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert!

Speaking of Miranda Lambert...Song number 5, "Mama's broken heart" off her new CD has been on re-play for the past couple of days now. I just can't get enough of this song. LOVE IT!

    Favorite line of the song

Go and fix your make up, girl it’s just a break up
Run and hide your crazy and start actin’ like a lady
'Cause I raised you better, gotta keep it together
    Even when you fall apart
But this ain’t my mama’s broken heart

and you better believe that I am loving my COWBOYS who are ranked NUMBER 2!! GOOO POKES

    (Photo courtsey of Miss Football)

And of course, I am loving all of you!

I've missed you Friday...I really have

My dearest Friday...THANK GOD you are here.

Seriously, this week has been all kinds of CRAY CRAY.

My boss is officially on maternity leave, which means I am completely in charge...and let's be real, I LOVE being in charge...however, OMG, running an entire clinic by yourself is not all fun and games people.

Everyday this week I have had to rely on my pumpkin spice lattes to get me through the week, little did I know just how much damn sugar is in those babies until I started entering my food again on my fitness pal. Good grief, I might as well suck down an entire cup of just sugar. At the risk of blowing my daily sugar intake, I just don't think it's beneficial for me or for the patients if I stop drinking them.

It's my daily crack..and I just need it. I do, I really really do.

It's not even the Starbucks kind, just the dunkin donuts kind I make in the Keurig. Which by the way is the greatest coffee maker in the world. Get one. You will thank me later.

Maybe if I do like a 100 extra squats or something it will justify how much sugar is in those lattes. Oh and by the way, apparently I have weak hips. WTF? I was doing lunges the other day and one of our therapists told me that I have a weak lower body. Umm...gee, thanks?? So, now Jillian Michael's and I have a standing date where she is going to literally kick my booty into shape. I have her latest video on the lower body. She better help me, because I'm going snow skiing over NYE and I don't want to tumble down a mountain because my lower body is weak.

    That would be no bueno.

I had no intentions of making this a random Friday post, but it turns out that is what's happening.

When is too early to start listening to Christmas music? I may or may not have that playing on Pandora.

I just might even have to watch a few of my favorite Christmas movies, The Holiday and Love Actually this weekend...getting in the holiday spirit a little early.

Speaking of Pandora. I choose a station because I like that person and that type of music...if I wanted someone of the complete opposite genre to play during my current play list..I would have chosen that kind of music to begin with. I need them to stop adding people they think I might like, I like the people I am listening to Pandora. That's why I picked them.

Oh and one more thing...I recently just heard on the news that women who drink two glasses or more of wine each day increase their chances of breast cancer by 50%.

So does that mean if I drink the wine every other day...is that better??

Please don't tell me I can't have chocolate now either...because that's just wrong.

Happy Friday my loves. Hope y'all have a great weekend!

P.S. Who doesn't love a little bling bling?? I know I do, in fact I was just talking about how I need a holiday party to go to because I want to buy a sparkly dress and shoes...well good news people. Miss Raven and the Blonde Bargainista Lindsey are hosting the best blog swap ever...in my opinion. How the Glitz stole Christmas. If you love bling as much as I do...then you must sign up for this swap. It will be so much fun!

Because we all could use the motivation

    or at least I can.

At the end of this month my three best friends and I are heading out to San Francisco to do a little wine tasting, eating and running. San Francisco Marathon. I am just doing the 5k, Miss Football is doing the half.

I was talking to her on the phone last night and we are both just to the point where we have no motivation. It's just so dang hot to get outside and run.

So, this morning I thought...enough with the excuses. I made a promise to myself that by my 27th birthday ( which is August 26 btw if you want to get me anything...wink wink) I would be in the best shape I have ever been in.

Have I done anything towards that? Not really. Why? Who knows, I am just lazy. Enough with sitting on my couch watching my DVR, I need to get out there and run.

I feel good when I run, I feel great after I run...I miss that feeling.

Thought these might help me to get off the couch and do something, hope they help you too : )

Hope everyone has a great day...now get off your ass and go run : )

    I need an intervention

I know normally Thursdays are set aside for nutrition and healthy goodness, but I haven't been very healthy this week nor have I had the "want to".  I know I need to but I would rather go home after work and catch up on my dvr. Lazy? Yes. Is this a good thing? NO.

Yes, I know everyone needs to have those days where they can just be lazy in some comfy clothes, veg out and watch tv and not work out for a couple of days. Well...I had about two weeks of those days due to the blizzard and I CAN'T GET OUT OF IT. I need help! Like, super bad help. Like Jillian Micheal's coming to my house and yelling at me to get my lazy, fat, cellulite ass off the couch, out of bed and into the gym. THAT kind of help. Yes, I said cellulite. Everyone has it. Movie stars have it. Freakin Queen of England to be probably has it. ( I mean...I hope people have it other than me) I would like to deny that I have it. But, its there. And now, I have proclaimed it to the world.

Why is it sooo difficult to get back into a routine after just a week or so set back? This has happened to me time and time again. I would be doing great, working out everyday, eating well. Then boom. I get like the plague and I am out for a month, then I go on vacation or something, and excuses keep coming and before you know it six months have passed  along with about a billion dozen boxes of cookies that have been eaten before I even went back to the gym. Please, tell me this happens to other people??

Well, I am determined to not let this be the case again. I have to get my jiggly, cellulite ass, chicken winged arms back into the gym. Jillian Micheal's or not. I need to do a million squats and lunges and get in bikini shape. I have to, I have to, I have to!!

I love to work out...I love the feeling after a good work out. I just need to get back into it.

"Exercise gives your endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don't shoot their husbands, they just don't." Quick...name that movie??

So, with this little proclamation. I decided I am going to do the whole 30 days of Jillian Micheal's 30 day Shred...lets see if she really knows what she is talking about. I have done it before...but not for a month straight. I will be doing this along with my normal gym routine.

If your wondering why I went on m little tangent about this. 1. I have my follow-up doctors appointment today about my dairy allergy. I thought I would have lost a few lbs...you know not having dairy and all. I haven't lost anything. In fact, I gained 2 lbs. I blame the damn blizzard and me getting snowed in with oreos. 2. I needed to post this to the world, so I will hold myself accountable and actually stick to something.
