Friday Randomness

"I am not offended by all the dumb blonde jokes, because I know I am not dumb and I know I am not blonde." Dolly Parton

This is a random/rant/thank God its Friday post all in one.

I work at a physical therapy clinic and right now the majority of our patients are older. Now, let me just say that I LOVE our older patients, in fact I get along with them quite well. They love me, one even told me that I am a perpetual granddaughter...I have no idea what that means, but I'll go with it.

I even have a standing margarita date about every other week with a former patient of ours. He is about 70 years old and we just talk about life, he gives me advice on dating, its good conversation...he's like a second grandpa.

However, I do not appreciate it when all these old folk like to tell me a blonde joke. EVERY.SINGLE.TIME. they come to their appointment. I get it already. I am blonde. Yes, I act blonde sometimes, but just because I do, does not mean I want to hear your latest blonde joke.

Pinterest always knows how I feel

Rant over. Moving on.

My hair. It's a hotmess. I haven't had it highlighted since July. July people. It's October. Why, is because my hairdresser/friend gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Mia and has been out on Maternity leave. Thankfully she is back to work and I get my hair done on Monday. In the meantime, I have been sporting pony tail after pony tail until the last couple of days; I just decided to go with it. You know what, several people have commented on how they love my ombre looking hair...I hate to break it to you people...but this is called roots. Not ombre.

A rep came into our office today and brought us a giant purple pumpkin full of the "good" Halloween candy...you know, like Hershey’s, kit kats, snickers, reeses. I took that purple pumpkin full of delicious high calorie chocolaty goodness and hid it.

Believe it.

Some say I don't like to share

Good thing about Friday...PAY DAY...bad thing about Friday...paying bills. I had dreams and plans for that money...plans of shopping and a trip to Sephora for new make-up...alas my dreams are now being spent on bills. Blah.

Because I like to torture my dogs, and by torture I mean doing this....

"Hello, my names is Bentley...I have a PhD in sleeping all day and eating cupcakes when left unattended."

Happy Friday dolls!

All you need is love...and a dog

My goal in life is to be as good of a person my dog already thinks I am.  ~Author Unknown

It is no secret that I love my two dogs. I may or may not be slightly obsessed when it comes to them, after all they are my babies for now.

Dogs offer nothing but unconditional love day in and day out. They never question why you had a bad day, they just know to comfort you when you are sad. They are always happy to see you, always...even if you did leave them outside in the pouring rain while you were at work...they are still very happy to see you. I am sure it has nothing to do with the fact they are more excited to be inside where it's warm...but none the less...they are happy.

I saw this video the other day and just had to post it. It tugged at my heart strings. Not only because I am a dog lover, but because it's such a simple act of kindness and love. I truly think that, we as humans, can learn a thing or two from animals...

And because I am on this dog kick today...here are a few dogs pictures I came across on pinterest.

Basset love

Yesterday morning as I was getting ready I saw this video on the news. A basset dressed like Sherlock Holmes and thought, "I have got to see this!" So here it is folks...a basset running in slow motion dressed like Sherlock Holmes...I just about died, it is so cute

After seeing this it made me think of my own cute whiddle basset...Bentley Sue. Named after Dierks Bentley the country singer...not the car.

I went on a little road trip this last weekend and although she loves to travel, she is not very good at it. She whines...a lot. So, I left her with my Dad, poor thing...she probably didn't get any love or attention the whole time. So, today I dedicate this post to the life of Bentley Sue...my loving, slightly overweight, happy, lazy hound dog.

This would be Bentley doing what she does best...sleeping

Bentley Sue and her little doggie...she literally takes it every where with her. She loves her puppy.

Obviously Basset's are notorious for dressing up

The pillows were all piled up on the couch and she took it upon herself to take a nap...when in Rome...sleep on a stack of pillows.

Hope this pictures make your day brighter...it sure made mine : )

I love this dog!

Happy Monday Morning!

I can't tell you how happy I am to be back at work. Weird, right?

Who is ever happy about 1. Waking up early come Monday morning 2. To be happy about going to work? 3. Did I mention that it's Monday and I always dread Mondays??

Well, if you were like me and have been snowed in for 6 days...you would be SO happy to just have somewhere to go other than the rooms in your house. Let me tell you, coming to work is like a breath of fresh air. I miss having interaction with humans. Dogs just aren't good conversationalists. Plus, I don't want to come off as that crazy lady who talks to her dogs. I did get rescued by my awesome momma for the weekend, so that HELPED a ton with my cabin fever. I have never seen so many frustrated comments on FB, almost everyone status's have been how much they hate the snow, cabin fever is getting the best of me and my favorite one seems to be, whoever is praying for snow...please oh please stop. Seriously. Whoever is praying for snow...STOP!! Everyone would appreciate it here in Oklahoma.

I've learned a few things to better prepare myself for the next blizzard. However, I pray that I will never have to be in one again ; ) but just in case...here are a few tips that I have learned.

1. Sometimes the weather men actually do know what they are talking about, so when they say 20 inches of snow...they might be right.
2. Forget the food...stock up on alcohol. Everyone and their dog is at Wal-Mart...all the eggs, bread and milk are taken so don't fret just go to the liquor store. It not only makes you forget that you have no contact with the outside world, after a few drinks...you are nice and toasty and sleep pretty well.
3. Just a disclaimer...I am in no way an alcoholic, but its not like I was driving anywhere anytime soon...so why not?
4.Get snowed in with someone. Preferably someone you like. Preferably a hot boy. Just saying.
5. Buy a freakin snow shovel. I think I am the only one that didn't get this memo. My little baby shovel didn't really help with the 20 plus inches of snow in my driveway.
6. Do not..I repeat Do Not park in the middle of the freakin road. My poor mailbox has seen better days, due to my jackass neighbor who thought it would be fun to park in the middle of the road, so that when cars pass they have to drive in my yard and hit my mailbox. How am I supposed to get mail now??
7.Speaking of mail...I realize this isn't a tip...but I thought all mail carriers were supposed to deliver come rain, sleet or hail...is a blizzard not in that category? I would have liked to have received my Pioneer Woman's Black Heels to Tractor Wheels. Damn Blizzard.
8. I don't have anything else...I just have to end on an even number.

Things I missed due to the Storm that I am not happy about

1. My hair appointment. This girl needs her hair high-lighted like no ones business...my eyebrows are also starting to look a little Groucho Marx if you know what I mean. Plus, who knows when I will be able to get in again...she is a busy busy lady. Please excuse my pony tail hairstyles for awhile.

Groucho Marx

2. Bella also missed her grooming appointment. I gave her a haircut...she's not real happy with me. I can tell.
3. I missed the book signing for The Pioneer Woman's new book...luckily she is going to re-schedule it.
4. My bff Miss Football was supposed to come for a visit...thankfully the airlines let her switch her tickets and she is coming this weekend...fingers crossed.

Things my mom and I did to keep us entertained.

1. Movies...I don't know how many times we watched The Proposal. Great movie
2. We built a family of snowmen
Mom and Bella and Bentley is somewhere
3. I made a snow angel

4. We ate an entire Vegan Chocolate Texas sheet cake. Just the two of us.
5. I broke 10,000 points on Just Dance...ya, I'm awesome.

Well, that's the Blizzard of 2011 in a nutshell. Sorry this post is so long...I had a lot to talk about you know

Have a lovely Monday folks!

XOXO,
Lyndse
