Weekend Wrap-up

I am sunburned...yet again.

You would think I learned my lesson the first time, but no. I did put sunscreen on, just apparently not enough?!

Oh well, at least I got to spend time laying out the pool and riding sea do's at the lake, a sunburn is worth that, right?

I hope so.

I took Miss Bella to the vet to get her yearly shots and get her tested for heart worm ( because apparently I am a bad mother and haven't gotten her tested for this...please don't turn me into dog welfare services) she doesn't have it...YAY! I was so worried and paranoid, I googled everything about it just in case, I was seriously freaking myself out.

Google isn't helpful for paranoid people like me.

I haven't ran in the last couple of days. I am not sure if you are aware of this, but Oklahoma is practically a sauna. Running + hot sauna air= lyndse staying inside watching DVR while eating ice cream.

That pretty much sums up my weekend.

I apologize for the most boring post ever.

Hey y'all

Sorry I have been slacking on the blogging front lately. Sometimes life just happens and throws you into a tale spin...ever happen to you? Well, I am not fully back from said tale spin...but I am getting there. Speaking of did y'all ever watch the cartoon, "Tale Spin" it was on the Disney channel. I loved it! It was about a pilot called Baloo(like from the jungle book)...anyway, it's hot here. Like 100 degrees at noon hot. Now, I am all about summer, but it's still June. Not even officially summer yet and we are already having these incredibly hot days. Only two ways to cure the summer hottness, in the water or in the A/C.

You know what I realized...well, I already knew this but I have a serious problem with Reality TV. It's kind of a big problem. Just when I tell myself to not watch/DVR another show...something new comes on for the summer and I have to watch it. The following Summer shows have been added to my line up...I am not proud of this.

Million dollar Decorators on Bravo-If I was a millionaire, I would hire some of these people...they have great taste.
Platinum Hit also on Bravo. Why am I watching another music show, I don't know
The Voice-I really do enjoy this show, as much as I love my fellow Oklahoman Blake Shelton..I am team Adam. I love Maroon Five.
So you think you can dance
Big Brother-hasn't started yet, but I love this show and can't wait for it.

I need some new summer hairstyle ideas. With it being so hot and humid, wearing my hair down is not an option, I always put it in a pony tail, but this gets boring. I tried to do the cute little braid thing at the front of my hair, but I have a widows peak and have side bangs...so if any of my lovely followers are hair dressers or are great with hair...will you please help a sister out with some cute styles to beat the summer heat.

I would appreciate it : )

This post was boring...I will do better next time, ha!

Summer lovin

It's hard to believe that today is the second day of June. Crazy! How did this happen? Where does time go? When I was younger it seemed like it took forever for school to be let out in May and the summers seem to have lasted forever. Now, before you know it Christmas will be tomorrow. Ya feel me? Anyway, enough about time.

Let's talk about what I love about Oklahoma summers. Oklahoma summer's make me happy. I need to be happy right now. Yes, it does get scorching hot, like so hot, you step outside for 5 seconds and you already have frizzy hair and your make-up is melting off, but summer nights in Oklahoma with the cool breeze coming in, if only for a minute makes everything worth it.

These are just a few of my favorite things about summer

1. Homemade ice cream...back in the day before the land of dairy allergies, my mom made the best homemade butterfinger ice cream. OMG...it was to die for. So good. I can just taste it now.

2. Peaches. I know Georgia might be known for their peaches, but believe me you haven't tasted a peach until you have tasted a Porter peach or a Stratford Peach. They are heaven on earth.

3. Oklahoma Summer Sunsets...I really wish I had a picture. I'll work on this.

4. Fireflies. Fireflies start to come out in about late May and they come out right at dusk and you can see their little lights flickering. I will admit as a kid I would catch the fireflies and tear the lights off...I realize now that I was killing them. I do feel bad about this.

5. Small town festivals and fairs. Watermelon festival, Peach Festival, Strawberry festival...if its a fruit, it's a festival.

6. Outdoor concerts. LOVE THEM. live for them.

7. Margarita nights on my front porch with bestie. I don't believe this needs any explanation.

8. Lake. Pool. Giant Slip and Slide. Sprinklers. anything and everything having to do with water. Like I said, it's get dang hot here.

9. Fireworks. Fireworks over the lake. AMAZING.

10. Cookouts, baseball games, outdoor activities, vacations, good time spent with family and friends....all make up my favorite summer memories.

I have a love/hate relationship with the sun

You know what's worse then being sunburn? I thought it was the day after being sunburn, but I was wrong. The worst is most definitely the day after the day after the sunburn...you feel me? Two days after the dreaded day my brain forget to tell the rest of my body to use sunscreen. First off, thank you all for your sweet comments and tips for Le burn...I think the stock in Aloe Vera has most definitely gone up, thanks to me.

I couldn't sleep At. All. Last Night. Every time I turned it felt like my skin was being ripped off my body. If that's not cruel and unusual punishment, I do not know what is. The only way my shoulders and back don't hurt, is when I am topless. TMI? Sorry. Can't really go to work topless...well, I guess some people can...it's just not my chosen profession. Next best thing, off the shoulder tops...thank God for off the shoulder tops.

This isn't my first rodeo with sunburns. We go way back...back as far as I can remember. I am very fair skinned. So, you would think I would know better. Apparently, my brain was on vacation, go figure. I remember this one time when I was probably like 8 or 9, I got really really burned all over my back, shoulders, arms, everywhere. I even used sunscreen. My Nana, took evaporated milk and poured it all over my back. I will never forget that smell, it was disgusting. It worked though. The next morning, the redness was all gone and so was the sting. The smell lingered forever though. Gross.

When I was in high school, my church youth group went snow skiing. It was my first time to ever go skiing, so I didn't know that the sun glaring off the snow can burn you just as bad as it does when you are on the water. Know where I am going with this? The only thing people warned me about was to make sure and have chap stick, because your lips will for sure get chapped. I probably applied chap stick to my lips 50 times a day, you better believe those babies never got chapped...my face however, was another story. My face got so burned that it started bubbling up, it got so bad that I couldn't even open my mouth to talk or eat. Needless, to say when I got home my mom took one look at me and took me straight to the ER...I had second degree burns on my face. Yes, second degree burns. Fortunately, I just put some stuff on there that the doctor gave me and it was back to normal in no time. It was still scary though and I looked ridiculous.

So, ya...me and the sun...sometimes we are not friends. I should be a walking campaign for sunscreen. For reals.
