Hey y'all

Sorry I have been slacking on the blogging front lately. Sometimes life just happens and throws you into a tale spin...ever happen to you? Well, I am not fully back from said tale spin...but I am getting there. Speaking of did y'all ever watch the cartoon, "Tale Spin" it was on the Disney channel. I loved it! It was about a pilot called Baloo(like from the jungle book)...anyway, it's hot here. Like 100 degrees at noon hot. Now, I am all about summer, but it's still June. Not even officially summer yet and we are already having these incredibly hot days. Only two ways to cure the summer hottness, in the water or in the A/C.

You know what I realized...well, I already knew this but I have a serious problem with Reality TV. It's kind of a big problem. Just when I tell myself to not watch/DVR another show...something new comes on for the summer and I have to watch it. The following Summer shows have been added to my line up...I am not proud of this.

Million dollar Decorators on Bravo-If I was a millionaire, I would hire some of these people...they have great taste.
Platinum Hit also on Bravo. Why am I watching another music show, I don't know
The Voice-I really do enjoy this show, as much as I love my fellow Oklahoman Blake Shelton..I am team Adam. I love Maroon Five.
So you think you can dance
Big Brother-hasn't started yet, but I love this show and can't wait for it.

I need some new summer hairstyle ideas. With it being so hot and humid, wearing my hair down is not an option, I always put it in a pony tail, but this gets boring. I tried to do the cute little braid thing at the front of my hair, but I have a widows peak and have side bangs...so if any of my lovely followers are hair dressers or are great with hair...will you please help a sister out with some cute styles to beat the summer heat.

I would appreciate it : )

This post was boring...I will do better next time, ha!

Summer lovin

It's hard to believe that today is the second day of June. Crazy! How did this happen? Where does time go? When I was younger it seemed like it took forever for school to be let out in May and the summers seem to have lasted forever. Now, before you know it Christmas will be tomorrow. Ya feel me? Anyway, enough about time.

Let's talk about what I love about Oklahoma summers. Oklahoma summer's make me happy. I need to be happy right now. Yes, it does get scorching hot, like so hot, you step outside for 5 seconds and you already have frizzy hair and your make-up is melting off, but summer nights in Oklahoma with the cool breeze coming in, if only for a minute makes everything worth it.

These are just a few of my favorite things about summer

1. Homemade ice cream...back in the day before the land of dairy allergies, my mom made the best homemade butterfinger ice cream. OMG...it was to die for. So good. I can just taste it now.

2. Peaches. I know Georgia might be known for their peaches, but believe me you haven't tasted a peach until you have tasted a Porter peach or a Stratford Peach. They are heaven on earth.

3. Oklahoma Summer Sunsets...I really wish I had a picture. I'll work on this.

4. Fireflies. Fireflies start to come out in about late May and they come out right at dusk and you can see their little lights flickering. I will admit as a kid I would catch the fireflies and tear the lights off...I realize now that I was killing them. I do feel bad about this.

5. Small town festivals and fairs. Watermelon festival, Peach Festival, Strawberry festival...if its a fruit, it's a festival.

6. Outdoor concerts. LOVE THEM. live for them.

7. Margarita nights on my front porch with bestie. I don't believe this needs any explanation.

8. Lake. Pool. Giant Slip and Slide. Sprinklers. anything and everything having to do with water. Like I said, it's get dang hot here.

9. Fireworks. Fireworks over the lake. AMAZING.

10. Cookouts, baseball games, outdoor activities, vacations, good time spent with family and friends....all make up my favorite summer memories.

Gary Allen said it best...

Life ain't always beautiful
sometimes it's just plain hard
Life can knock you down, it can break your heart.

No,life ain't always beautiful
But I know I'll be fine
Hey, life ain't always beautiful
But it's a beautiful ride.

Couldn't have said it better myself Mr. Allen. Not only are you super hott and put on a great show, and your lead guitarist wears a kilt, which I find odd yet sexy at the same time, but you took the words right out of my mouth.
Life is messy, life is hard, life is up and down...but life is beautiful, life is fun, life is sweet, life is just that....LIFE.

Good thing I like to dance : )

Keep calm....

It's Tuesday yet it feels like a Monday. I have some pretty tough stuff going on in my life right now...so, if you don't see a blog from me for a couple of days, its not because I don't love y'all...I just need to focus my energy elsewhere. I found some inspiratoinal quotes and sayings that I feel we all could use...

TGIF

It's Friday, It's Pay Day, It's a 3 day weekend...this makes me happy!

I feel like I haven't blogged much this week...so here goes a bunch of random thoughts that don't make any sense. Your welcome.

I love the bachelor/bachelorette. I admit it...I love watching these people fall "in love", with millions of viewers watching and analyzing their every move, I love the drama, I love the fairy tale dates, I love thinking and hoping that whoever they pick they really are going to stay together. With this being said, I had NO intentions on getting sucked into another installment of the bachelorette. I wasn't a huge fan of Ashley when she was on Brad's season, I just didn't want to watch her. Then it happened. I was flipping through channels and happened to see the guys stepping out of the limo and next thing I knew I was suckered in to yet another season of red roses. Which by the way, ABC can you please select another color. Pink maybe? I am so tired of red roses.

My thoughts on this season. First of all Bentley is only a good name for a dog, if I do say so myself...since I have a dog named Bentley and all. This Bentley that is on the show acts like a dog, actually worse than a dog, he is a complete douche. Can I say douche? Sure I can...it's my blog. He's not cute either. He's a douchey , no cute, jerk. I have no idea why she kept him. I don't have a favorite yet...when I do...y'all will be the first to know.

The end of an era happened. Oprah is over. I finally watched her last episode last night. OMG...I balled like a freakin baby. That lady knows how to speak to people. I felt like everything she was saying was exactly what I needed to hear. I was having a blah day yesterday and she made it better. I am saving that episode on my DVR for as long as it will let me, just so I can watch it whenever I need a pep talk.

Speaking of DVR...my cable provided recently changed the way my DVR works and I am not happy about it. I can't find any of my shows. I know they are there, it tells me...I just can't find them. GRRR.

It's lake season and our boat's not ready. Insert major sad face.

Really though, that's ok...because it's lake season and I am not lake season body ready...yet.

Ask me how many times I have ran lately?Ya...not so much. I have a 5k I am supposed to be running in July in SAN FRANCISCO. I should probably get on this.

Just like every other girl and blogger out there...I too want Carrie's legs. I have decided that in order to get these legs, I need to never eat anything good and work out like a maniac and get a really good spray tan.

I think that is all for now...I will leave you with this quote from Michelle Obama about relationships, I stumbled upon it from another blog. It was so good I had to share it with y'all.

Cute’s good. But cute only lasts for so long, and then it’s, Who are you as a person? That’s the advice I would give to women: Don’t look at the bankbook or the title. Look at the heart. Look at the soul. Look at how the guy treats his mother and what he says about women. How he acts with children he doesn’t know. And, more important, how does he treat you? When you’re dating a man, you should always feel good. You should never feel less than. You should never doubt yourself. You shouldn’t be in a relationship with somebody who doesn’t make you completely happy and make you feel whole. And if you’re in that relationship and you’re dating, then my advice is, don’t get married. Get out of it and find that person that brings you complete and utter joy with who you are at the moment.

Happy Friday and weekend y'all.

All I really need to know...

Recently baby brother graduated high school...holla!! I barely cried. So proud of myself. He was of course as handsome as ever in his cap and gown. One thing that stood out to me...besides watching baby brother walk across the stage, was one of the graduation speeches. I am 26, I have graduated high school and college and have heard my fair share of some really motivating, encouraging, go get em' grad speeches. Do I remember any of them? Nope. Not a single one. I am sure they all sounded great at the time.

As this girl was standing at the podium reading her speech, I found myself nodding at everything she was saying. It was genius. Everything she was talking about is so true, and I thought to myself..."I need to be living my life according to these rules...and so should everyone else for that matter." The speech she was reading...well, here it is.

All I really need to know, I learned in Kindergarten
by Robert Fulghum

most of what I really need
To know about how to live
And what to do and how to be
I learned in kindergarten.
Wisdom was not at the top
Of the graduate school mountain,
But there in the sand pile at Sunday school.

These are the things I learned:

Share everything.
Play fair.
Don't hit people.
Put things back where you found them.
Clean up your own mess.
Don't take things that aren't yours.
Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody.
Wash your hands before you eat.
Flush.
Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you.
Live a balanced life -
Learn some and think some
And draw and paint and sing and dance
And play and work everyday some.
Take a nap every afternoon.
When you go out into the world,
Watch out for traffic,
Hold hands and stick together.
Be aware of wonder.

I know a great deal of 20 somethings that definitely could learn a thing or two from this poem. How funny is it, that as we grow older we all try to complicate things...when really life should be so simple as sharing everything and playing fair. I have been saying for years that I need a job that requires nap time...I would for sure excel at that. Cookies and milk in the afternoon? Yes, please!

If only all our politicians and world leaders could follow these simple lines...saying sorry when you hurt someone does go a long way, taking things that aren't yours is not very nice, hold hands and stick together...I think sometimes we are so caught up in our own battles that we forget to reach out and hold on to someone when they need us the most.

Who knew at the ages of 4 or 5, we learned some of life's most valuable lessons. Too bad most of us have forgotten them.

I'm still here...

no Dorothy or Toto or Tin Man or Scare crow business happening here. Can I just say, having grown up in Oklahoma my whole life and having experienced my fair share of tornado warnings and watches...these last few days have gotten me pretty worked up. See, I am slightly paranoid of things, especially storms...especially storms that involve the possibility of tornado's. You would think growing up in Tornado alley, I would be used to such events...ya, not so much.

The Joplin, MO tornado really frighten me and many of us Okie's. It is just tragic what those people are experiencing, my heart breaks for them and I can't even imagine, much less want to imagine, the pain and suffering and heartache they are going through. Because of this tornado that happened there ( it being so close to home ) people who aren't normally scared of storms/tornado's were freaking out. Weathermen were warning us about said storms for days and preparing us for the worse. I seriously thought I was preparing for a nuclear bomb or something.

My dad, who when I was growing up, never ever went to the cellar. He is one of those true Okies that stands outside watching the tornado go by. Yeah, he's a bright one. Anyway, my mom told me this morning that even Dad was ready and willing to go to the cellar if need be.

Thankfully though, none of us had to take cover. Personally, I don't know how a closet or bathroom was going to protect me from a tornado...I was a little worried about that...because I have always had a cellar to use. However, some parts of Oklahoma weren't so lucky. I believe the Oklahoma City area had some damage and the last I heard 11 people were killed.

Please say a prayer for those families and those who have lost property and continue to pray for those in Joplin. It's just so scary to think that in a matter of seconds you could loose everything...including the clothes on your back.
