Out with the old...well kinda!

Like many of us, when the new year happens we all want to "rid the clutter", for me this means cleaning out my closet, and spare bedroom, spare bedroom closet, hall closet...I am starting to sense a pattern here. I may be somewhat of a "pack rat". Its really not my fault, I just have emotional connections to pretty much everything I own. For example, I have collected every single birthday card, miss you card, just wanted to say hi card, etc. from my family and friends. I just can't get rid of them, I love stumbling across them and reading them from whatever birthday it was because most generally every person wrote some kind of special message in the card and it makes me remember back to that birthday year or that time when the card was sent and it makes me smile. Therefore, I can't ever throw any of those cards away. They really are a piece of me.

I also can't seem to get rid of clothes. Yes, I have those jeans that might be too small for me right now, but I paid good hard earn money for those jeans, and by golly I am going to fit my fat ass into those jeans again. I will. Watch me. I can't believe I just said " by golly", who says that?? I also have two dresses that I have only worn once and will probably never wear again, but I won't get rid of them. I just can't. One of the dresses is a really cute black and white polka dot dress that I wore for my 22nd birthday. It was a great night, so much fun and I got to spend it with some of my favorite people. One friend in particular, little did we know that would be the last night she would celebrate with any of us before she got sick. I can't seem to bring myself to get rid of that dress. It holds such a special meaning. The other dress, is the dress that I wore at said friends funeral just 18 months later. I will never wear it again, but I can't get rid of it. Call me sentimental or crazy but I just can't bring myself to do it.

DonEtta and I...my 22nd bday
Am I the only crazy one out there that has a special reason for everything I own? It should be so simple to get rid of clothes that you haven't ever worn or haven't worn in years. I have a t-shirt from a boy who I thought I could love...probably did love, it's a t-shirt from our favorite band...do I wear it? No. Do I want to get rid of it? No. I am seriously probably certifiable crazy. In case you are wondering if I made any progress in getting rid of the clutter, I did put "a few" things in piles for my friends to go through and to give to goodwill. Just a few.  Dearest friends and family please go ahead and turn me over to hoarders...I think I might need it.

Lyndse

I want to undo it...na na na na

"You had my heart, now I want it back, I'm starting to see everything you lack, Boy you blew it...you put me through it...I want to undo it!" Carrie Underwood

As I am sitting here blogging and listing to my itunes on this cold and dreary day in Oklahoma, sitting in my comfy sweats and uggs...can we say LAZY DAYS!! Carrie Underwood's song came on in my shuffle. Obviously I busted out my very best Carrie Underwood voice at the top of my lungs because I LOVE this song....maybe even did a little seated dance to this song...why not...its practically mandatory to sing loudly and dance. I got to thinking, there isn't a single girl in the entire world that doesn't relate this song to some dumb boy in their life. We have all been there, had our heart broken by some boy, maybe not broken per say, but we have at least wanted to "undo it". I know I certainly do.  So, thank you Carrie Underwood, (who by the way is also from Oklahoma...can I say soul sister or what) for putting this song out there for all of us girls to jump up, shout at the top of our lungs and tell those dumb stupid boys that we would very much like to "undo it" if we could!! Take that suckas!!

Why thank you for that lovely email, "The Nest"

"Some people are settling down, some people are settling and some people refuse to settle for anything less than butterflies." - Sex in the City

I am sure you have heard of a little website called The Knot, if you haven't its a website for newly engaged or newly married couples to start planning their wedding. There are tons of ideas on this site for basically any kind of wedding you could dream of having. It's quite useful, you know...if your engaged and what not. I, however, am not engaged...trust me if I was, there would be a giant billboard stating that fact. Anyway, there are two other sites that go along with The Knot, there is The Nest and The Bump. Clearly, I am not signing up for The Bump anytime soon, and we all know there isn't a billboard on the highway anywhere saying I am getting married...so no page for me at the The Knot. However, The Nest is quite useful for this single 20-something gal. It has great ideas for decorating-which I need, cooking-a girls gotta eat, and budgeting-I should probably start one of those! I love this website, and just because I am not married and starting a little love nest, doesn't mean I can't reap the rewards of all these ideas too.

Well, the other day I receive an email from The Nest, telling me what days I would be ovulating and that those are prime time days for having a baby and joining The Bump. Umm...hello?? Excuse me while I choke on my water...what did I sign up for here? I just want to know what throw pillows I should use in my living room, or find some cute night stands for my bedroom, maybe even a good recipe or two. I, for sure DON"T want need to know when I am ovulating. Gross!!!!

For future reference, The Nest if you feel the need to send me any emails, please send me an email letting me know the prime time days for finding my future husband...now that is something I could definitely use!!

First things first

"I am not offended by all of the dumb blonde jokes, because I know I am not dumb and I know I am not blonde." Dolly Pardon

I should probably explain a little bit about what you will read on this blog. In one word. Randomness. One of my bff's, I will refer to her as "honey" once said to me, " You're mind is a fun place!" Not really sure if that is implying a good thing or a bad thing, but either way I will go with it. One of the reasons I started this blog is part of a New Year's resolution. I don't want to wake up and it be ten years from now, another decade...which can you believe we are in a new decade...CRAZY!! I want a place to document my comings and goings, events in my life and my friends life, my families life, etc. Also, I want a place where I can vent and go off on my little soap boxes if I need too, and as an accountability. Like most people when a new year rolls around they want to loose weight, get in shape, etc. Count me in that same boat. This way I can have a place to document it and my progress, also I like to cook and try new recipes, so I will probably post those as well. I'm no pioneer woman but I do try my best.

Oh and I am forgetting one two minor details, quite frequently there will be postings of the most adorable, mischievous, slightly overweight dogs you will ever meet. Bella and Bentley. They keep my life pretty entertaining.
Bella Mae
Bentley Sue

I was born a Red Dirt Girl...

This is my very first "blog"...I have noticed more and more ladies I know are keeping blogs these days, whether its an outlet for their innermost thoughts, which is what mine will be; along with some complete randomness. There are wedding blogs, my first baby blogs, a blog about travels, a blog about cooking on a ranch in the middle of nowhere Oklahoma ( shout out to my home girl P-dub aka; www.thepioneerwoman.com) anyway my point is EVERYONE is doing it, including one my of Bff's www.tiffanyd22.blogspot.com who is by the way responsible for me starting a blog in the first place.

I have no idea how entertaining or useful my blog will be, but I can promise you this. It will be 100% me all the time, which if you ask me is pretty darn awesome. A lot of my blogs might not make any sense, much like this post today, but that's what makes it oh so special. So, please bare with me as I take you on a little journey called my life.

XOXO,
Lyndse
